TitleSynopsis
0048 weaver #1: enemy First appearance of Weaver and the Mysterious Man. Weaver--who doesn't have a name as such--finds himself floundering in a pond with no memories. Disoriented, he makes his way to the edge of the water, decides to take a nap to clear his head, and awakes to find himself captured by a mysterious stranger who took his sword and locked him in a birdcage.
0054 weaver #2: civilizedWeaver becomes irate in his cage and struggles for a way to show his captor that he is civilized. He objects to having nowhere to go to the bathroom, so he does his business in the food tray, trying to communicate with the mysterious man. Eventually the man tries to talk to him and he learns a few simple words for food, and then he gets a real treat: A television remote control.
0062 weaver #3: my favorite channelWeaver discovers the human world through the magic of television. He attempts to learn words and mostly finds himself lost in the programs but interested all the same. When he comes upon a show that features "adult" images, he decides the "filth" channel is his favorite.
0070 weaver #4: attention-getting wordsThrough the power of closed-captioning, Weaver discovers he can read a little bit. He uses some of the words he's learned to demand the right to take a bath, and his jailer throws his cage in the bathroom. There, he cleans himself under the faucet and tries to fly up to the shower curtain rod to take a nap, but disturbingly he realizes he hasn't opened his wings in weeks and thus can no longer fly. He is understandably enraged at this.
0078 weaver #5: reaching for the skyDetermined to regain his ability to fly, Weaver does stretching exercises in his cage as much as possible, and every time he's released into the bathroom to take his shower, he attempts flying. This time he finally succeeds for a short distance and hangs on the shower curtain rod. He's more determined than ever.
0086 weaver #6: nothing to laugh aboutWeaver decides to use his newfound "filth" words to leave disgusting written messages for his jailer. He makes a sarcastic comment, and while the captor does not appreciate it, he is impressed with Weaver's speech and decides to try to teach him language on purpose.
0094 weaver #7: overheardWeaver meets a new human for the first time--the Mysterious Man's nephew, who is surprised by Weaver's intelligence and challenges his uncle on why he would keep him in a cage. Weaver overhears a conversation between the two of them that reveals that he is a prisoner because the Mysterious Man thinks he would attack him if he was free and had access to his sword. The conversation reveals where his sword is hidden. Weaver is pleased by his new knowledge--and happy that the nephew apparently believes he should be free.
0102 weaver #8: what's rightThe Mysterious Man's nephew tells Weaver he thinks it's wrong of his uncle to keep Weaver in a cage, but he is unwilling to let Weaver out on the grounds that he's not in charge of the situation. Weaver expresses his frustration at being considered anyone's pet or property.
0110 weaver #9: escapeAfter the Mysterious Man's nephew leaves without freeing him, Weaver despairs that he will never be released. After experiencing very strong urges to be outside again, Weaver begins to think about how he can outsmart his jailer and free himself.
0118 weaver #10: weaponWeaver has concocted an escape plan, using his resourceful mind, reading ability, and determination to figure out a way to reclaim his sword and escape his cage. His escape is successful in this issue.
0126 weaver #11: a piece of skyWeaver enjoys his first taste of freedom, philosophizes a bit about flying, and begins to identify what qualities he will require in the place he chooses for a territory of his own.
0134 weaver #12: others like meWeaver continues his search for a territory and reflects on what he wants in a companion.
0142 weaver #13: symbolWeaver combats boredom by reading a discarded magazine, and ponders the meaning and intended use of his sword.
0150 weaver #14: the edge of the earthDiscontent, Weaver searches for a territory that feels like home for him. Eventually he comes to a forest near the beach which he is strangely drawn to. He decides he will give it a chance and see if it proves itself to him as a worthy home.
0158 weaver #15: like the moonWeaver finds that a pond in the area he's been living in shines with a rather unearthly light. After deciding this shining lake is the closest thing to the moon on Earth, he decides he's found his new home.
0172 weaver #16: this is enoughWeaver follows a bat to its home and is comforted by its similarity to him, and he reflects on his happiness about his home. The only thing he feels he is missing is someone to discuss Nature with, but he is sure that just Nature is enough for him if having a conversation partner would mean risking being captured again.
0188 weaver #17: giving thanksIn this historic issue, Weaver sees what he thinks at first is an invader . . . but it turns out to be Dax. Curious, he observes the stranger hunting, is impressed at his reflexes, and then is bowled over by the display of Dax's praying over his kill. Weaver finds this familiar and wishes to give thanks too, and reveals himself. The two exchange their first words, and Weaver is--while still unsure--deliriously excited at the prospect of possibly having someone to talk to who has a lot in common with him.
0195 weaver #18: brotherDax and Weaver share a fruit and meat meal for the first time, and discuss what they remember about traditions and beliefs. It turns out they both have a vague belief in a goddess represented by the moon, and after Dax refers to this presence as "Mother," the two decide that they must symbolically be brothers.
0201 weaver #19: different and the sameWeaver shows Dax some of his possessions, and they end up pointing out each other's similarities and differences.
0206 weaver #20: namelessWeaver reflects on how glad he is to have his "brother" there, then goes to sleep. In the morning, they have fish for breakfast and talk about how neither of them has a name. They agree to name each other.
0212 weaver #21: a brand new wordWeaver stresses over not knowing what to name his "brother," and decides to just make up a word for him to honor his uniqueness. When morning comes and the two name each other, Weaver is pleased with his name (and what it means), but isn't sure his choice for Dax measures up. His friend accepts the name with glee, though, and Weaver teaches him to write it in the sand.
0218 weaver #22: two's enoughWeaver finds a chalk-like rock and uses it to scrawl a couple calendar months on the inside of their cave. Dax and Weaver ponder the dates of the full and new moons and begin to make plans for what they should do to celebrate both. Weaver finds himself having to cheer Dax up when he expresses his doubts about a party being able to exist with only two people.
0224 weaver #23: endless dayA montage issue shows Weaver touching on each of four experiences he now values most in the world, noting that only three of them involve Dax. He loves the moon rituals, the hunting aftermath they've created, and helping Dax learn to read. His fourth love, flying, has to be enjoyed on his own.
0230 weaver #24: deepWeaver and Dax discuss the meaning of the feminine and masculine elements, and Weaver makes a plan to dedicate his sword to the Mother. Dax thinks his thoughts on dedicating his weapon are very deep.
0236 weaver #25: too much faithWeaver runs into the mysterious singing phenomenon in the forest again, and this time he decides it must be an invisible being. During an attempt to investigate, he accidentally spooks it, causing it to jump into his tree momentarily and fly away. He flies to Dax with his news only to be told it can't be a physical creature if it's invisible; Dax still believes this is a manifestation of the Mother Goddess. Weaver finds himself annoyed that Dax tends to consider everything he encounters some kind of support of his faith, whether it is or not.
0242 weaver #26: nature's natureDisaster strikes when Weaver gets caught in a storm while trying to gather acorns. He gets blown into a tree and knocked out, and when he wakes up he's practically frozen. Unable to fly in his condition, he hikes home and finally makes it, only to find that Dax doesn't seem to think his experience could have been fatal due to believing the Mother is protecting them. Weaver gets angry and makes a speech about Nature's nature, and Dax finally sobers and acknowledges that Weaver is right this time.
0248 weaver #27: what i must have hadWeaver and Dax start picking up cool stuff they find after a storm, and Weaver comes across a pair of discarded women's underwear. It makes him think about his perception of women, which he discusses with Dax, and though he comes to the conclusion that neither of them are attracted to human women, he wishes he remembered what attraction was like for people like him.
0255 weaver #28: a hard timeWeaver decides to add variety to his and Dax's life by ambushing him from the treetops, spitting a mouthful of acorns at his friend's head. Dax is momentarily frightened, then irritated by Weaver's behavior. Weaver notes that Dax might be crabby due to their recent loss of supplies, and then the two of them go to do a ceremony over a recently killed rabbit. Weaver reflects on how he likes the way their life is right now and hopes it doesn't change anytime soon.
0259 weaver #29: a little big talkWeaver decides the stranger on their property needs to be intimidated, and with Dax's help they establish that they are in control. The new guy introduces himself as Alix, but also suggests he isn't human, which Weaver believes to be an offensive lie designed to get in their good graces. He points his sword at Alix's face and tells him he doesn't want to be involved with them.
0267 weaver #30: a bold questionAfter having calmed down enough to listen to what Alix has to say, Weaver discovers that this newcomer wishes to be trained on how to live the way he and Dax do. They make a deal that Alix will catch fish for them that night in exchange for some of their food and a place to sleep, but Alix also reveals that he will be greatly aided in his fishing by his ability to breathe underwater. Weaver is unsure of whether Alix is telling the truth.
0273 weaver #31: for the worldAfter returning to the base with apples, Weaver has to sit and listen to Alix and Dax talk animatedly, and he feels uncomfortable thinking Dax likes the stranger so much. After Alix runs off to catch a fish to share, Weaver has a word with Dax and finds himself reassured that he isn't being replaced.
0281 weaver #32: territorialWeaver lets Alix put his bag in the cave and basically tries to get used to the idea of sharing space with him, but he makes it clear where he doesn't want Alix to go or what he doesn't want him to touch. The two of them also get to see what belongings each other has.
0285 weaver #33: not like youWeaver teaches Alix how to gather nuts, but he doesn't appreciate that Alix is so forward with his questions, and he gets angry when Alix suggests they have certain things in common. Weaver doesn't want to be seen as similar to Alix.
0291 weaver #34: just be youAfter consulting with Dax, Alix comes to Weaver suspiciously pledging to be more in tune with nature, and so Weaver finds it preposterous and tells him to just be himself. They have a discussion about how Alix should be acting, and Weaver just wants to get to know him for who he is, not who he's pretending to be. He admits that he just doesn't particularly like change, and that Alix and he may never get along, but that swearing to be in tune with nature has no meaning. Weaver makes a mental note to talk to Dax about their encounter, because he finds it a little disturbing and manipulative.
0297 weaver #35: a lot colderWeaver settles into a critical teaching style when instructing Alix on matters of survival, perplexed as to how Dax manages to keep his patience. He notices that Alix complains a lot, and when they begin to discuss preparedness for winter, Alix demands to know why Dax and Weaver don't know anything about preserving furs. Since Weaver matter-of-factly explains that they probably wouldn't have thought of such a thing since they have their own fur, Alix decides he'll go back to the city and find materials and instructions on how to preserve fur for their winter use.
0301 weaver #36: by your choiceAlix returns from his trek and is greeted by an amiable Weaver, who's especially excited about the gifts Alix brings. But then Weaver wants to know where Alix gets his money, and when he reveals that he has a bank account in his name that's frequently fed by his parents, Weaver gives Alix a hard time while jokingly pointing out how privileged he is. Predictably, Alix doesn't get it.
0307 weaver #37: do you hear what i hear?By this point Weaver's pretty much accepted Alix, even though he still treats him like an annoying little brother. But then one day Alix hears the voice in the forest and wants to know what it is, which makes Weaver edgy because he and Dax have fought over the meaning of that voice and he doesn't want Alix to hear about their beliefs. After Alix isn't satisfied with Weaver's answers, he goes off to try to hunt down the mysterious voice himself, and Weaver's irritated that Alix can't just mind his business.
0309 weaver #38: like you already knewAlix comes rushing out of the forest and Weaver is annoyed to hear that he's had an encounter with the mysterious invisible singing woman. Weaver doesn't want to talk about her because he's afraid that because of Dax's opinion on what the voice is, the conversation will lead to discussion of their spiritual beliefs and he doesn't want Alix in on those. Alix keeps asking questions about Weaver's experiences with the invisible woman, and he gives Alix a little information before shooing him away with a gross threat. Alix leaves in a huff and Weaver is satisfied.
0317 weaver #39: awayWeaver comes back to camp from nut-picking only to overhear Dax talking to Alix about their religious beliefs, which highly offends and hurts him because he had thought he and Dax had agreed not to talk to Alix about the Mother. Before they see him, Weaver wings his way out of the general area and ponders why he's so hurt and what Dax could be intending to do by letting Alix in on their beliefs. Before long Weaver has to sleep and ends up doing so far from home in a pear tree.
0321 weaver #40: a little waveWeaver awakens, flies around a bit while mulling over his anger, and decides he basically forgives Dax for a possible transgression because the Mother isn't his to share or not. But he figures he'd better have an adventure while he's away, and explores to find interesting goodies (including a pair of binoculars and some gum). He does get a little creeped out by a figure way down on the ground who waves at him--twice--but eventually he ends up finding a treehouse and prepares to go in.
0323 weaver #41: footstepsWeaver explores the treehouse and finds beer and other treasures, including catalogs featuring underwear models (some of which he steals). He then finds a recording device in a gazebo before deciding he has too much stuff to carry and flying into the forest. Flying with all that weight tires him out, and he starts to realize the beer he drank affected him. While he's resting, he's interrupted by a mysterious woman in a black robe--the same person who waved to him while he was flying--who speaks to him even though she shouldn't be able to see him in his hiding place and tells him he should return the recording device and why. Weaver is mystified as to why this girl in the forest knows so much about his new possessions and why she runs off into the forest after speaking to him, but he's sure got a wild story to tell his pals now.
0327 weaver #42: not just oursWeaver shares his toys and distracts his companions until bedtime, but then when he's pondering his issues alone on top of the cave, Dax comes out to have a talk with him. Weaver's insecurities about Dax's sharing their beliefs with Alix come pouring out, and Dax tries to clarify his perspective a little better: he doesn't intend to teach Alix, but he won't withhold knowledge if it's asked of him. Weaver realizes that their way can't be taught anyway and that Alix will acquire the knowledge himself if he's meant to have it, and contents himself with pondering his meeting with the mysterious woman as he takes a moonlight flight.
0331 weaver #43: after the stormDax announces that he smells rain, so the three gather kindling for keeping dry in the cave, then barely have time to cook a meal before the storm begins. They hide in the cave during the rain and Alix makes a crack about Weaver being a bat, which angers him (and which causes him to spit acorn caps into his hair later while he's sleeping). In the morning, Weaver scouts the area looking for interesting items the storm might have washed up, and instead sees that Adele is on her way toward their base. As she approaches, they can see that she isn't human.
0335 weaver #44: a suspicious natureAfter having dealt with Adele's surprisingly forward and frank attitude, the boys are discussing whether they should let her stay, and Alix appears vehemently opposed to it. Weaver kind of enjoys bothering Alix and disagreeing with him. Alix seems to think his friends would have been a lot less welcoming if Adele had been a man bossing them around, though Weaver doesn't think that's why he's leaning toward welcoming her. He does feel a bit suspicious and acknowledges that Adele owes them an explanation for what she's doing there and more about her story.
0341 weaver #45: not one of usHaving promised to be quiet, Weaver lets Dax do all the talking in questioning Adele and finding out what she's up to and what she's there for. But when she tells them she was attracted to the area because other people from another word are there, Alix gets irritated when she insinuates he doesn't belong. They have a confrontation and Weaver has to try to silence Alix before he says something he'll regret. Adele attempts to mollify Alix by explaining her reasoning, and Weaver ponders how he's looking forward to having an intellectual equal around but is hoping she stops being so condescending.
0347 weaver #46: boys against girlsWeaver, Alix, and Dax have to decide whether Adele can live with them, and only Alix is against it. When Weaver and Dax want to hear his reasoning, it sounds ridiculous to them; he keeps asserting that since Adele is female, she is very likely to have babies that they will have to take care of. After mocking him, Weaver and Dax get him to admit that he's not voting against her installation in the group on those grounds, and they turn to invite her to move in.
0367 weaver #47: concept of a womanWeaver and Dax continue to chat about their perspectives on women. They also talk about what they think of Adele and their changing group dynamics. Weaver thinks about whether he'd find a female of his own race attractive, and thinks he might remember having had a relationship in his old life.
0381 weaver #48: in the neighborhoodAfter the group has returned from an attempt to connect with the invisible woman (with only Adele being marginally successful), they talk about their experiences and opinions over lunch. Weaver really likes the idea of finding another person who knows what flying is like, but the others don't seem to understand why he has such a strong desire to share that experience.
0387 weaver #49: what words are forNow that the group has run into the invisible woman several times and managed to feed her, Adele and Weaver are forming a plan to try to communicate with her. Weaver finally gets to see what the invisible woman looks like when she's not invisible, and while talking to Adele about the hope for her eventual speech, she spontaneously starts repeating pieces of their sentences. Adele thinks this might be a sign that she will absorb simple words to communicate if they teach her with food.
0397 weaver #50: significance for herWith meaningful language interaction still unachieved with the invisible woman, Weaver is surprised that one day Alix comes back from an encounter with her claiming that she's told him her name. In a retelling by Alix, the group learns that the invisible woman appears to have memorized a simplistic set of exchanges that Alix accidentally triggered by asking her to shake hands, and eventually she answers his question about what her name is and begins answering to the unexpected name "Neptune." Weaver and Alix feel this name is a bit ill-fitting since it's masculine and associated with the ocean, not the air, but they agree that its significance to her is all that matters.
0405 weaver #51: her only defenseWeaver is a little disturbed that Adele has succeeded in getting Neptune to wear a dress, because he's afraid it will interfere with her invisibility if she depends on it to protect her from wild animals. When he brings it up to Adele in a private conversation, she explains that he should trust her abilities even though she did not protect Alix from almost getting attacked by a mountain lion, because with someone like Neptune, Adele is assuming more responsibility. Weaver isn't sure whether he accepts this explanation.
0411 weaver #52: beyond wordsWhile watching Adele try to give Neptune practice on using words to choose foods, Weaver wonders whether her communication skills will ever become more than call-and-response conditioning, and Adele explains some thoughts on why she thinks it won't get much better. Weaver expresses disappointment over not having anyone who can fly to talk to, and when Adele suggests she herself could understand, Weaver rejects her claim and debunks her logic. He believes even Neptune understands better than Adele could, even if she can't express it.
0417 weaver #53: what's relatedWeaver finds a crossword puzzle dictionary on the beach and asks Adele what it is. They discuss humans' inventiveness, their mythology, their curiosity about human stories, and their respective abilities to understand enough context to interpret such things. Weaver decides to let Adele keep the dictionary because she's able to extract context from nowhere, while he finds the groupings of words meaningless.
0425 weaver #54: what can you sing?Neptune is annoying everyone singing the months-of-the-year song Adele exposed her to on their new cassette player, and when Alix complains, Weaver suggests they expose her to music Alix likes and begins singing rock ballads (poorly). Alix complains about that too and Weaver makes everyone who offers an opinion on someone else's singing demonstrate some singing themselves. Alix unexpectedly turns out to have a great voice, and while that annoys Weaver, he respects it at the same time.
0437 weaver #55: the fallen onesWeaver decides to head out to the apple farm with Dax to collect apples, but Dax is dismayed to find there's a fence around the trees, indicating ownership. He protests that taking the apples would be stealing, while Weaver argues that it's not because the farmer can surely spare a few and anyway his people stole the land from the indigenous peoples in the first place. Dax doesn't understand, but he agrees with Weaver that fallen apples are fair game since they would otherwise be wasted, and he vows to get the full story on the stealing of land from Adele later. Weaver wonders if his perception of the events is warped and whether he used what he knew to justify stealing in the past.
0461 weaver #56: big of youThe guys are sitting around talking about games and Weaver and Alix explain football to Dax. When they talk about trying to play someday and Alix makes a crack about how Weaver could be the ball because he's small, Weaver does not find it funny and objects to the mocking. He finds a way to turn the conversation around to point out how Alix can't play his games either.
0475 weaver #57: since the moonWhen Adele brought a mysterious little girl onto their beach unexpectedly, Weaver was understandably confused and dismayed, but when he found out this child could fly, his whole world tilted on its ear. Weaver asks Adele if he can fly with the girl, and the two spend a long time flying around in the air together over the ocean and the forest. Weaver even lets her hug him, and wonders whether she's always wanted someone to fly with too.
0477 weaver #58: a successful spellAfter the air romps with the new child have left him drained, Weaver returns to the shore and chats with Dax about their future raising the girl. Dax updates Weaver on Alix's attitude--he's been convinced to help raise her, but declares he won't like it--and Weaver expresses some of his elation about having found a flying partner. Dax apologizes, half-jokingly, for not being Weaver's dream date, and goes off to get water, while Weaver watches the child playing by herself, mesmerized by the sight of her.
0489 weaver #59: adult influenceWeaver is a little concerned for the girl's safety after Adele comes back from giving her a bath and doesn't have her with her. Even though Adele assures everyone that the girl is fine on her own, Weaver searches for her and comes up empty. The girl returns to the group on her own and immediately wants food, but she doesn't even finish her apple slice before falling asleep in Adele's lap. The group plans a celebratory dinner for her--with Alix being grouchy that he didn't get one, but volunteering to catch a fish--and Weaver contemplates what kind of pseudo-parent he should be to this child.
0494 weaver #60: partner in crimeWeaver awakens at dawn and decides to wake the little girl up, too. He's done some thinking about what sorts of measures their group will need to take to control this child, and he determines that she needs an ally who's mischievous like she is--so she'll listen to someone if she does cross a line someday. Weaver leads her out of the cave while everyone's still sleeping, takes her to a meeting place in a tree, and teaches her to spit acorns--telling her that their mission will be to attack Alix with them when he walks by. She takes to this mission with relish and begins practicing.
0496 weaver #61: the way we playWeaver anticipates, then enjoys, the sight of his new protégé attacking Alix by spitting acorns. Alix ducks, but recovers quickly and clearly wants to confront Weaver, but he decides to protect the child from associating yelling with their fun and takes her away for recreational flying, escaping the probable scolding.
0502 weaver #62: a little rebellionWith Dax pressing Weaver to admit he has more up his sleeve than annoying Alix, Weaver discloses his intentions: he plans to encourage the little girl in relatively mild mischievous acts so he will earn her trust as confidant, and that way if she tries to do something really outrageous, she'll likely listen to him if he asks her to back down. Furthermore, Weaver believes he's actually in more danger than Alix or anyone else will be.
0507 weaver #63: the easy answerIvy seems proud of her new name, but later when Weaver is berry-picking with her she suddenly starts suggesting new names for herself, apparently not quite understanding the permanence of a name. Weaver gives her some perspective on why she should keep the name Adele gave her, and explores the concept of her being part of their family.
0516 weaver #64: a lot of nutsWhen Weaver comes upon Ivy in the forest noisily collecting nuts, he discovers she's picked more than they could eat. When he explains why it's important to leave some for the animals and why they have a hard time shelling walnuts, Ivy demonstrates that she can cleanly and easily shell them, and when she expresses that she can do his job too, he suggests they need to talk to Adele.
0521 weaver #65: there was boysIvy returns from somewhere and tells the group she wants Weaver to come look at the strange item she found to help her identify it. She also casually mentions that she saw boys, and Adele points out that they were hikers. Alix is uneasy, and they discuss how vulnerable they are to wanderers. Weaver agrees to go check out the bird's nest with Ivy.
0527 weaver #66: making it funAdele asks Weaver to fill in as a reading teacher for Ivy while she goes on one of her missions so Ivy won't backslide, and they disagree on how to execute those lessons. Weaver doesn't like Adele's techniques and decrees that he'll make his reading lessons more fun for her--and teach Adele that she doesn't always know best.
0530 weaver #67: why is yWeaver teaches Ivy to write her name, but she is disappointed that her name only has three letters despite being as many syllables as Weaver's. She bursts out with all the things she doesn't understand about letters and Weaver "welcomes" her to the English language.
0535 weaver #68: game overWeaver is building a flower out of sand so he can hide a clue ball for Ivy's reading game, and he attracts Alix's curiosity, but then they're interrupted by Dax and Ivy arriving, having figured out the clue before Weaver could finish planting it. Weaver gets upset, thinking Dax helped Ivy cheat, and he "quits" the game as a way of teaching them both a lesson. Alix volunteers to go read with Ivy so Dax and Weaver can have a discussion.
0538 weaver #69: names for usWeaver and Dax return to the cave and find Alix reading to Ivy. Weaver thinks it's weird, and after they all ascertain that everything's more or less okay now after the blow-up, Ivy reveals that they're looking for families in books and she can't find any like their "family." While trying to figure out what names each of the group members should use, Ivy asks Weaver if he's a daddy, and he feels a weird connection with that word.
0541 weaver #70: my faultWeaver sees Ivy sitting on the beach by herself and decides to go talk to her to cheer her up. Turns out she's not sad; she's just involved in examining a bug while she levitates it in front of her. Weaver gets curious about the mechanics of her ability and asks her some questions that have her fumbling for a word to describe her ability. Weaver offers to get Adele to help her, and worries that he's upset her while trying to comfort her.
0545 weaver #71: not simpleIvy comes to Weaver to ask for clarification about what makes girls girls and what makes boys boys. He launches into a nature-based explanation, casting women as the sex that carries babies and men as the sex that impregnates. Alix overhears and surprises everyone by insisting that sex and gender is not about body parts, based partly on what he knows from a roommate he had at his last job. Weaver is confused and cowed, but privately holds that nature's primary male/female dichotomy is not useless.
0547 weaver #72: our own little circusAlix and Weaver simmer down in their argument, agreeing that they should let Ivy herself decide what being a girl is about. They digress into discussing Alix's past job, and he reveals he used to work at a circus, where he felt simultaneously objectified and included. Weaver is surprised that Alix let him in on this topic, and appreciates knowing about his past.
0555 weaver #73: missedAdele and Ivy return to Dax and Weaver, with Ivy very excited about having met Neptune. She pesters Adele to draw a picture of her since she hasn't seen her lift her invisibility yet, and bothers Weaver into helping her find Adele's drawing implements. Weaver ponders the concept of "missing" someone and wonders how his experience of missing others compares to potential losses in his life before he came to this world.
0562 weaver #74: a spongeWeaver comes upon Adele and Ivy searching for bunnies in kids' books, and he volunteers that he saw a bunny in one of his mini-encyclopedias once. He finds the book quickly and shows it to Ivy and Adele, and Adele praises Weaver's memory and asks whether he can remember everything he reads. He describes his memory as being like a sponge, and he gets to keep most of what he soaks up, but he isn't perfect.
0571 weaver #75: a mirror thereWeaver ruminates about Ivy going missing, fixating on how he can't believe she left her flying partner and they might not be able to have their shared flights anymore. He wonders if he was mistaken to believe it mattered to her as much as it mattered to him. In meditation, Weaver concludes that he didn't imagine her reaction and that she won't willingly give up what they had together, and he takes off on a flight in her honor.
0579 weaver #76: this sublimeWeaver notices Adele is zoning out but hesitates to ask her what she's thinking about. Then when she leaves suddenly saying she has to research information on Ivy, he panics, worrying that she's about to come back with bad news. But when she returns saying Ivy is on her way to the beach but is a little lost, Weaver wastes no time at all following Adele's instructions to go scout the area to the west.
0581 weaver #77: hurt togetherWeaver had to push himself hard and fast to get within shouting range of Ivy, and now that he's reached her, he's paying the consequences. He's beyond worn out and has strained himself terribly, but he manages to stay conscious while resting on the ground with Ivy and exchanging information about each other's pain. He sees that Ivy's chest is bruised but he can't do anything but lie there trying not to worry her, acknowledging that it would have hurt worse if he hadn't found her.
0586 weaver #78: asking herWeaver and Ivy are still worn out from their ordeals, but they take a flight together to reestablish connection. Weaver wants to ask Ivy not to leave again even though Adele has cautioned him against making a big deal of her departure. Then Ivy hands him the drawing she did of him and says she missed him, at which point he tells her he was sad without her and she shouldn't leave again. She assures him that she'll always come back, but he wants her to not leave at all.
0601 weaver #80: more like usWeaver missed all the excitement over Alix getting mad at Adele for having a secret. Weaver acknowledges that Adele's allowed to have a secret, but now Ivy has a question for him, and struggles to ask without revealing Adele's secret to Weaver. She manages to ask the question, wanting to know what humans are. And Weaver has a hard time answering whether Ivy herself counts as a human or as one of their group of outsiders.
0611 weaver #81: basic respectWeaver asks Ivy to run along so he can talk to Alix about his treatment of her, and before she leaves she glares at Alix. Weaver warns that Alix is in danger of being hurt if Ivy snaps because he doesn't respect her, while Alix is flippant. Alix agrees to let Weaver give him pointers on how to get along with Ivy so he doesn't end up dead, but Weaver is just as worried that hurting Alix could have negative consequences on Ivy too.
0621 weaver #82: two bottlesAdele returns to the beach and gives out her gifts. Weaver is thrilled with his pineapple soda but Alix seems a little disappointed with the bottles of root beer Adele got him. Weaver gets on his case about being ungrateful as Adele defends the practicality of bringing items that aren't too heavy, which leads to Alix suggesting Adele should take Ivy with her on trips to carry heavy stuff (and free them of making her behave while she's gone). Weaver and Alix snipe over discipline again.
0625 weaver #83: quietWeaver has been left to deal with Ivy's emotional fallout after she hurt Alix, and he thinks he's in over his head, but after encouraging Ivy to talk, he realizes she's basically got it figured out how she should think about it--that her powers don't make her bad, but that they do need focus and control. Weaver supports her and reassures her that she's supposed to make mistakes growing up, and she seems relieved.
0630 weaver #84: groundedDax and Weaver aren't having any luck teaching Ivy to meditate without accidentally floating. When Adele comes back she decides to teach her inside the cave for a change of mood, but Ivy whacks her head on the ceiling anyway and has to ice her head. Weaver comforts her when she expresses disappointment over not being able to do it right, and he concludes that there must be other ways to ground her.
0634 weaver #85: if that means anythingWeaver feels a little guilty and annoyed at the idea that Adele didn't trust him to talk to about Webster. He gives her a sincere apology, declares that he wouldn't have teased her like she thinks, and encourages her to confide in him if she feels comfortable. He finds he still can't help but tease her a bit, though.
0640 weaver #86: hard to live withIvy brings some fish in before her night flying excursion with Weaver, and they discuss how Alix used to do that and how they both feel about wanting him to come back. Weaver suggests Ivy has mixed feelings because sometimes people you love are hard to live with, and Ivy wonders if that's how Alix feels about her. Weaver is surprised at her depth of understanding.
0648 weaver #87: hold warmthWeaver is very cold during one of his winter rituals with Dax. After the ritual is over Dax suggests he warm up by sitting in his lap, and though he's a little hesitant, he acquiesces and is glad he did.
0651 weaver #88: scary thingsIvy recites what she's learned about children losing their teeth to Weaver, admitting it scares her. Weaver, when questioned, doesn't remember whether he lost teeth as a child because he lost his memories, and then Ivy's terrified that THAT'S something that happens as you grow up too. He has to reassure her that it won't happen to her, and they agree that learning scary things is part of growing up.
0654 weaver #89: worth starting over forAfter Adele has revealed that it might be possible to return to their home dimension in a year or so, Dax and Weaver discuss the pros and cons of staying in their current dimension or leaving to go back to their old one, trying to discuss the issue objectively so they know what they should consider before making their decision. They become a little emotional anyway, and are happy to be distracted when Ivy shows up wanting to play a game.
0659 weaver #90: this transcendsWeaver tells Dax about what Adele has revealed to him: he has a mate and a daughter in his old dimension. He expresses that he feels he must return to them if he has an option to, and that his connection with them must transcend memory because part of him still belongs to them. Dax thinks you're not yourself without your memories, but Weaver concludes Dax doesn't understand.
0662 weaver #91: objectiveWeaver goes to Adele and Dax for "objective" advice. He recalls how desperate he was to find Ivy when she went missing a while back, and brings out the drawing she gave him. He wonders if his daughter is drawing similar pictures, and asks Adele and Dax to help him figure out the best course of action minus emotion. Dax says the objective answer is disappointing one little girl instead of two.
0671 weaver #92: original crewWeaver and Dax welcome Alix back to the beach base with a good old fireside chat. He comments on Ivy's maturity and asks Dax and Weaver what they've been teaching her, but then he says he really came back mostly because he missed hanging out with them and considers them his original crew--no women and children. Weaver objects to being called a bachelor and explains his situation with a family in another dimension, but Alix replies callously and inspires Weaver to stomp off.
0673 weaver #93: say sorryAlix follows Weaver into the cave and attempts to apologize, but Weaver criticizes his apology for making it about himself. Alix learns to sincerely apologize, and then he asks about what the dimensional event coming up even is.
0681 weaver #94: experimentAdele's gone to the city for one of her trips again, leaving Weaver in charge of reading with Ivy. Instead, they play with books while trying to choose one to read, and Weaver observes how easy it is for Ivy to stack, sort, and lift quite a lot of books. He asks if she's ever experimented to see how much she can lift, and advises her to experiment with caution. He suspects she's had a bad experience with this, especially since she seems uncharacteristically unenthusiastic about experimentation.
0688 weaver #95: what kids are likeWeaver approaches Adele dejectedly and asks permission to dump his feelings on her. He describes a play interaction with Ivy and her dolls in which she changed her mind about some details in the middle of the game and got frustrated when he didn't follow, and he was disturbed and saddened by how familiar that was to him--as if he'd felt it before as a father. He asks Adele what he should do.
0700 weaver #96: holding handsWeaver observes Adele crying and wishes he could feel such a connection with his homeland. He moves to comfort her and ends up initiating a group hug that Adele appreciates. Adele tells them about her teacher, explaining that she knows her teacher is there with her in spirit, but then the pool begins to change again.
0706 weaver #97: useless lumpWeaver is standing by watching Dax and Adele take care of the wounded girl who's just come out of their pool. He feels pretty useless, though he does happen to be paying attention in time to notify the others that the faeries are returning to their homeworld. Adele then assigns Weaver to clean the new child up since she needs someone with small hands who can do detail work and she's feeling shaky and overwhelmed. He agrees.
0718 weaver #98: smallestWeaver, having been assigned to guard duty to protect the new little girl from escaping and hurting herself or anyone else, is waiting in a tree when Dax arrives a couple hours early. He wants some chatting and some help--and he's brought a new companion. Weaver is introduced to the tiny faerie child that Dax has been keeping warm, and now Dax needs Weaver's fine dexterity to sew a strap onto a pouch so he can wear the child close to his warm chest without worrying about hurting him. Weaver helps and is excited about the new child, but he also thinks the future is looking very weird now.
0728 weaver #99: wider by the dayWeaver wakes up and checks on Ivy, who's playing with Thursday and leaning against a sleeping Dax. Alix is off finding food so Weaver talks to Ivy about the kids' names and what she wants to do to entertain them (and each other). She wants music and attempts to reach the radio with her abilities, but her energy doesn't reach that far. Weaver goes off to get books to read aloud.
0731 weaver #100: what-if modeWeaver, while following an excited Thursday into the forest, finds himself pondering how he's supposed to take care of such a creature and what the child really needs. He thinks maybe he's gotten a little attached and keeps wondering what could go wrong and whether the faerie child is where he really should be.
0736 weaver #101: the same ageWeaver follows Thursday to the river, where he plops down and tries to take a drink. Ivy is there trying to give Tabitha food and a bath. Weaver and Ivy agree that taking care of kids is hard, and Weaver wonders really how okay Ivy is with everything even though she's handling it. Thursday lands on Tabitha's head and she doesn't seem violently opposed to it as she has been to everything else. Weaver is surprised.
0738 weaver #102: what's best for youWeaver and Ivy smell food cooking and are surprised to see Alix is making fish for them. They totally forgot to eat because they were so distracted by the kids. They settle down to eat the fish Alix cooked, and Alix seems offended that Weaver's surprised by how cool he's being. He's part of the family too and wants what's best for them.
0741 weaver #103: play it safeAlix returns with Thursday, and though Weaver and Ivy have been anxious, he's fine. Alix explains the circumstances of Thursday's apparent need to eat more frequently than they had expected, and as they discuss more options to feed the kids, Ivy wants fish for Tabitha. Alix doesn't want to allow solid food because he wants to play it safe while she's injured and assumes she might be too young for solid food, and Weaver's a bit disgusted because she looks like a predator to him. They decide to try to make some nut butter for her with Ivy's assistance.
0747 weaver #104: my toneThursday begins making an odd noise, and as the others debate its meaning, Weaver tries to answer with his own similar noise. Thursday doesn't appear to appreciate his tone. But when Tabitha answers, he enjoys that, so they put the two together again. They also answer back when Alix makes the noise. Dax and Weaver wonder if they can't communicate with the children because they don't have good singing voices.
0748 weaver #105: decency obsessionAlix suggests getting the kids some clothes. Dax is in favor but Weaver objects and bothers Alix about why he wants them to be clothed--does he think it's just basic decency? Weaver says at the very least the winged boy can't be expected to wear clothes and still fly. Alix still demands that they put clothes on the girl.
0756 weaver #106: the wrong sugarWeaver and Alix continue to struggle with keeping Thursday healthy. More and more often he's passing out even though they're working hard to keep him in calories. Finally Weaver grows frustrated and they ask Adele, who seems distracted and quiet lately, but she's willing to help. She investigates and realizes that Thursday isn't digesting sugar fruit very well. They're going to have to find a good way to get simpler sugars into him.
0765 weaver #107: how they playIvy is wondering about what hand-clapping games are as depicted in a book she likes. Weaver doesn't know the answer and they decide they'll have to ask Alix since he has knowledge of the human world. He says he knows what they are but can't teach Ivy about them because he doesn't know any--even if this wasn't mostly a girl thing, he wouldn't have been involved in anything that had other kids paying attention to his hands. Ivy wonders if she would have had to consider that too. This makes Weaver sad.
0768 weaver #108: not like us guysWeaver and Ivy are about to go for their flight and Weaver feels comfortable these days leaving Thursday in Alix's care. But then Alix suggests they take Thursday along since after all he can fly too. They don't think it's a good idea and try to explain the dangers, but Alix insists that the allowances they'd have to make are no more than what Ivy probably does to allow for Weaver's shortcomings. He's angry that this might be true.
0772 weaver #109: about housesTab and Ivy are dirty and Adele says they can just wash off in the coming rain. Alix, dismayed that he wasn't aware rain was coming and angry that it ruined his plans, gets mocked by Weaver. When Alix gets back from fishing and complains some more about the rain, Weaver challenges him and they argue over whether they would be more civilized if they had a house. Thursday distracts everyone by saying the word "wet."
0780 weaver #110: wise guyAlix is trying to build the framework of a small house with the materials Adele brought back. Weaver comments on his work and they bicker about who's smarter.
0782 weaver #111: changing the futureIvy's recounting to Weaver what it was like to see the future with Adele. The two of them ponder what it means when knowing what's going to happen could change what actually happens.
0788 weaver #112: jerkIvy returns with Neptune (invisibly), and confesses to the others that Alix was mean to her. She wants a word for his attitude toward her and the others teach her to call Alix a jerk. Thursday repeats it and they joke about him agreeing.
0792 weaver #113: attitudeIvy and Weaver go on an evening flight and discuss Alix's attitude. Weaver helps Ivy decide it's okay to not like Alix and not be friends with him if it's causing her stress, and wants her to understand that it isn't her responsibility to maintain and stabilize her relationship with him if he's not doing his part at all. He worries about her getting taken advantage of by men in the future.
0794 weaver #114: that lookWeaver is feeding Thursday when Dax brings Tab to come see them and show off the feather in her hair. She seems to want to play with Thursday and the boy sits on her shoulder. But then he gets his wings caught in her hair, startles her by trying to fly free, and triggers Weaver to hold her wrist back when it looks like she's about to swipe at him. Dax steps in a moment later and Weaver worries that they're not trustworthy to take care of the kids and wonders why he jumped in to stop her when he'd be no match for her claws if she meant business.
0798 weaver #115: having his sayA hyperactive Thursday wings it toward Alix's cabin with Weaver in hot pursuit. When Alix welcomes Thursday in without seeing Weaver and says some annoying stuff about being lonely and wishing he had an attractive companion, Weaver bursts in to razz him, and Alix intensifies his commentary, claiming he's the only one who never gets his say and has no allies. Weaver leaves Alix with cutting responses about how shutting others out will necessarily result in loneliness, and also offers a parting . . . punch on the arm. He thinks Alix is an outsider there because what he chooses to say (while claiming he gets NO say) is already so angry that it reminds them all of what they ran away from.
0804 weaver #116: brother and sisterIvy and Tab come back to see Weaver trying to cook fish. He's annoyed at Alix because he's keeping Thursday and no one else is around. Ivy helps Weaver with the difficult-to-maneuver cooking stick and they discuss how Tab is now saying "no." (She does it again in front of Weaver.) They are excited that maybe she and Thursday will talk to each other soon like siblings growing up together, and Ivy says she wishes she had a sibling. Weaver wonders if maybe what she wants is a best friend since Tab and Thursday really are kind of like younger siblings.
0808 weaver #117: something badWeaver greets Ivy when he realizes she and Adele have arrived back home. They discuss the trip and Ivy seems to think it's reasonable to invite Weaver to join her next time, while he is adamant that he can't go to a city in any way that would be worth it because he's not human. Ivy brings up Adele's situation with her secret about not being human and how frustrated she is that Adele won't stop talking to Webster even though she knows she'll get hurt. Weaver suggests she'll also be hurt if she ends the relationship, and reminds Ivy that they can't control her relationship.
0810 weaver #118: outsideWeaver decides to visit Alix and offer him candy, but his playful way of knocking on the door (throwing acorns) just attracts annoyance from Alix. But he wants the candy, so he lets Weaver in. Weaver ends up just asking him what happened to cause him to isolate himself. Alix admits that he just got sick of the other companions mocking him for wanting to have an inside home, so he ended up outside.
0811 weaver #119: influentialAlix is having a meal with the group for the first time in a while and Dax announces that they've all missed him. Alix wants to personally hear the others say they individually missed him though, and while Adele and Ivy agree that they missed him, Weaver is irritated that Alix wants the acknowledgment. But when Alix points out that he's influential in their group, he grudgingly (and mockingly) acknowledges missing Alix and philosophizes about being a leader.
0812 weaver #120: homeworkWeaver thinks Dax shouldn't try to teach Alix better social skills. He thinks Alix deserves to be disliked and shunned if he does and says the things he does, and doesn't want Dax to have to spend valuable time and energy on teaching him how not to be a jerk. Dax argues that Alix may actually deserve more focused care because he's also been through experiences none of them have. Weaver is frustrated to think Dax has a point and wonders what kind of homework he would be assigned.
0817 weaver #121: one of the brosAlix follows Weaver and Dax on one of their moon ritual nights and asks to come along. He somewhat begrudgingly but sincerely explains why he wants to be included, and Weaver privately panics thinking Dax will be swayed and invite him in, while Weaver doesn't want that at all. He's surprised when Dax instead just tells him no and they'll talk more later, and when Dax and Weaver compare notes, Dax points out he didn't want Alix there either and besides that he needs to know how to deal with it if people do say no to him.
0826 weaver #122: sinking inAlix asks Dax and Weaver if he can come with them on their foraging trip. They observe that he's been in a better mood lately and ask if he's been doing his homework, at which point he gets embarrassed and just wants to not talk about it. They acknowledge that if they haven't noticed any weird "techniques" lately, he must be doing better with his social skills. Alix considers Weaver's admission a compliment, which he denies.
0833 weaver #123: how to runIvy and Weaver watch Tab and Thursday playing, and Ivy makes some observations about how she admires Tab's ability to run. Weaver and Ivy discuss how neither of them really has any experience running and how Ivy might be able to learn if she practiced but realizes she's self-conscious about talking to Weaver about it. He reminds her that Tab can do what she can do because she can't do what Ivy does.
0840 weaver #124: not so calmWeaver checks out Adele's weaving and when Adele reveals that it's a calming process for her, Weaver asks if she is trying to calm down from something. Adele examines that question deeply and concludes she must be anxious if this calming-down procedure feels like a relief. Weaver likes her honesty.
0844 weaver #125: behind her backAdele asks Ivy and Weaver if they want her to pick up anything on her solitary trip to the City. Ivy and Weaver immediately realize she's not asking Ivy to fly her there because she wants to talk to Webster. After submitting their requests, Ivy and Weaver talk about Adele's relationship and what might happen with it.
0852 weaver #126: no wordsWeaver sees Adele after her trip. She gives him gifts and he brings up Ivy having been worried about Adele while she was gone. He asks if she had any reason to be worried--Adele says she's fine even though her time with Webster was unpleasant--and he asks if she would like to talk about it. She declines, but appreciates that he would be there for her.
0857 weaver #127: not for meWeaver and Ivy are hanging out and Weaver recommends that Ivy stop eating an apple while lying down. She counters that it isn't dangerous for her because she could save herself if she choked. While Weaver tries to argue the practicality of still not giving herself a chance to start choking, Ivy gets frustrated and declares herself above rules, punctuating the statement by launching herself into the air to demonstrate that she can do whatever she wants. Weaver clarifies that at least she should not eat lying down in front of the kids because they look up to her, and he ponders how to go forward enforcing rules with someone who believes herself invincible.
0862 weaver #128: sparedAdele wakes up sick and the rest of the crew tries to take care of her, but then they all start getting sick themselves, one by one, until the two younger children and Weaver are the only ones left. Weaver is frustrated that he's alone caring for the kids and four sick people when he thinks he's the most useless adult there. He hopes it will be over quickly and that he won't succumb himself.
0866 weaver #129: some kind of lifeIvy's too tired to go flying and is grumpy. Weaver tries to talk to her about her issues and she's confused about how sickness works. They discuss biology and germs. Weaver wonders about the differences between his body and Ivy's.
0873 weaver #130: like a parentWeaver listens to Ivy's hard day with Tab, and acknowledges that she's being very mature about how she handles still "liking" Tab even when she's being a brat. They discuss Ivy's perception of how old she is.
0876 weaver #131: you firstWeaver is teasing Alix for being so hesitant to go through the pool for the first time. Adele invites him to come along after Alix thinks Weaver should be willing to prove he's not scared of it, so he makes the trip with Adele. Alix follows and they go on their errand, leaving Weaver alone since he can't go with them. He has to trust Adele's assessment that being there by himself is rational, but being alone near a city freaks him out.
0879 weaver #132: overcomingWeaver is alone with his thoughts while waiting for Alix and Adele to return. He ponders the difference between fear and anger with regard to his feelings about his old captor, and wonders what he would do if he saw that guy again. Weaver is proud to have overcome what held him back, but is frustrated that the imprisonment will always be part of his story. When they return, Weaver finds out he could have gone home at any point, and is annoyed but glad he got to chew through these thoughts.
0887 weaver #133: nonfictionWeaver is reading early feminist literature and Ivy interrupts him to ask what the story is about. He explains what nonfiction is and Ivy is concerned about why men think they can tell women what to think and do based on what Weaver's old book says. Weaver is sad that this ugliness exists in the world.
0890 weaver #134: if you want to helpAlix introduces his shed plan to Ivy, Dax, and Weaver. He offers them a chance to help him and they're not too excited about it considering it seems like everything will be done quickly and easily by Ivy. But when Alix says he had hoped they could do it as a group, Weaver wisely points out that there's a difference between saying they can help if they want versus saying he wants them to help. They all want to help Alix if he wants them to.
0895 weaver #135: finishing touchesWeaver carefully constructs a gazebo housewarming gift for Alix made of mud, acorn caps, hair, moldy food, and a dead hermit crab. He hides it in one of the new cupboards and waits for Alix to find it. When he does, he jokingly acts like he appreciates it and that makes Weaver kind of want to give him a real gift--without playing too much into his evil plan to be friendly, that is.
0903 weaver #136: place of fearWeaver does a minimal roofing task to help Ivy on the shed building just so he can say he helped. When he jokes about pooping inside it because humans poop inside, the two chat about what Ivy remembers about the human world, and he's surprised to hear that Ivy remembers being afraid. He wonders who she'd be now if she'd continued growing up in a scary place.
0910 weaver #137: always madDax brings a sleeping Thursday to Weaver for his shift and tells Weaver he might want to check in with Ivy about how she's feeling now that Tab has expressed some anger and jealousy about her. Weaver doesn't think he has any special insight, but when Thursday wakes up, it occurs to Weaver to ask Thursday if Tab ever talks angrily about Ivy. When Thursday points out that Tab tends to be mad about everything, Weaver begins to develop a different perspective on what might be the norm for Tab.
0914 weaver #138: parallel strugglesWeaver and Ivy talk more while resting in the trees. Weaver asks Ivy if she thinks Tab's jealousy is inspired by Ivy having to be the one to control her, but Ivy thinks it's deeper than that and is embarrassed when Weaver suggests it might be hard for Tab to have to see Ivy able to do things she can never do. Weaver tries to compare Ivy to Adele assuming she must wish she could do some of the things Adele can, but Ivy surprises him by saying she wouldn't actually like that because it would be really hard. Exploring how being herself is hard for Ivy allows some headway to be made in their conversation, and Weaver wonders what the adults' role should be in making sure Tab doesn't fixate on being a have-not while not making Ivy feel like she deserves resentment.
0919 weaver #139: what's around usWeaver, recently cleared to watch Tab as well as Thursday, is tired of their bickering until he overhears Thursday insisting that he has six siblings that he remembers. Upon investigating, Weaver discovers Thursday actually just made an assumption based on seeing his name among six others on the calendar and assumed they were other people with similar names. Weaver tells the children the history of everyone's name and they argue about them. Weaver wonders what his lost mate and child's names were.
0923 weaver #140: unpredictableIvy has returned from the city with a headband that has excited her a great deal. When Weaver realizes she got it in a store and discusses the experience with Ivy, she is effusive, chattering about the girl she met in the hair accessories aisle and expressing her wish for peers. Weaver is concerned about her being in the city and Ivy is frustrated that no one wants her to have fun, and she doesn't see the danger. Weaver is not sure how to keep her safe and wonders whether he should supervise a sneaky trip to the city so she'll still see him as on her side when it comes to bending rules and going on adventures.
0930 weaver #141: warm enoughAdele presents Weaver and Thursday with a hand warmer and some LEGO bricks to build Thursday a warm bed. They do so and Thursday is so comfortable being warm that he gets blissed out and worries Weaver. He thinks Thursday seems emotional about being warm and is glad they can finally give this experience to him.
0933 weaver #142: daredevilWeaver admires Ivy's fearlessness when it comes to playing dropping games in the air, and ends up unwittingly agreeing to let her hold him while she drops so he can experience it. He doesn't handle it great and definitely doesn't think it's fun. They discuss how they might be built different and consult with Alix about whether humans like falling. He tells them about extreme sports where humans defy death to enjoy falling, even though they're afraid. Weaver's confused and wonders if Ivy's enjoyment of such things really counts since she has a prepackaged safety button.
0937 weaver #143: antagonizedWeaver exchanges some conversation with Alix about whether they are cool now and whether he'll need to watch his back. Alix seems exasperated that Weaver thinks he might hurt him and says maybe Weaver should apologize if he wants to feel better, but he refuses. Weaver thinks it's nice that Alix isn't holding a grudge, but that doesn't mean he's going to stop treating a dope like a dope.
0942 weaver #144: personal experienceWeaver, upon entering the cave, overhears some bickering and weird questions from the children and correctly gleans that he's walked in on a sex ed lesson. Adele is also apparently irritated with Dax for making her do the education when he could have helped. Ivy takes the children out so the adults can talk, leading to Dax explaining his reasoning to Adele as to why he didn't feel qualified to explain--and he mentions that without personal experience with sex, he's not sure he's the best person to explain. Adele disagrees, as she has no experience either and thinks it's okay to educate without it. Weaver claims high ground on the basis that he's not a virgin, and offers willingness to field questions (despite that he doesn't remember his romantic life). He puts on a confident face for the others but has some internal doubts.
0944 weaver #145: right for youWeaver offers to help clarify anything Ivy's still wondering, but she's more wondering why she never wondered. She asks some questions about whether she can be sure that she's maturing properly, and Weaver assures her that comparing herself with norms or with the other children isn't constructive.
0952 weaver #146: who deserves herIvy tells Weaver about her mission and he's sad to think Ivy helped people who made her think she wasn't likable. He thinks she needs to be weirder, not less weird, so she can have true friends who deserve her. He worries that Adele is taking liberties with her safety or happiness by making decisions about Ivy's activities without consulting with any of the other adults who love her.
0957 weaver #147: being worseWeaver spends some time flying with Ivy and listening to her concerns about watching Tab. She doesn't want to stop but she wishes Tab would be nicer to her and she wonders what it would be like if she just wasn't nice and mature--if she could be awful sometimes. Weaver offers to go with her to do something to blow off steam.
0962 weaver #148: textbook reactionAdele comes home with a haircut and shows it off to Alix and Weaver. They display positive reactions and then when she goes off to show the kids, Alix and Weaver agree that she probably broke up with her guy--it's a textbook reaction to cut your hair after you've had guy drama. Thursday turns out to be shocked by the haircut and Ivy admonishes him to be nicer about it. He didn't want her to cut her hair and thinks she should have stayed the same, and urges Ivy not to cut hers.
0966 weaver #149: imaginary scenarioTab and Thursday come to Weaver to settle whether Tab or Thursday is taller. (Comparatively, somehow.) He refuses to choose and says it's meaningless anyway because the scenario of "if they were the same kind of person" is imaginary. They don't like his answer and decide to ask Adele. Weaver resents the idea that taller height is valued.
0969 weaver #150: brainstormWeaver thinks it's reasonable for Ivy's mission subjects to be suspicious of selfless help and helps Ivy understand why, but he wants to make sure she gets enough guidance from Adele and isn't left floundering. He recommends brainstorming some solutions with Adele before missions and advises her to come to him if Adele isn't giving her enough help.
0975 weaver #151: luckyBefore their evening flight, Weaver and Ivy talk about Ivy's odd experience being disturbed by helping with Adele's visions and her future opportunities to help others. Ivy's reluctant and thinks she has to find a way to be good at this or she'll keep messing people's lives up. Weaver encourages her to think about her involvement in people's lives as a blessing, like the people who receive her help are so lucky to be chosen by their group for assistance. Ivy doesn't quite seem to get why anyone would be lucky to have her helping them but Weaver hopes he can guide her to understand herself that way.
0979 weaver #152: cheatingWeaver consults Ivy on a problem he's having with the kids: Tab wants a zipper pouch like Thursday now has, but Thursday wants to be the only one who has one and resents that Tab would want one when she has her pick of clothes. Ivy suggests some possible solutions--settling on maybe giving Tab a purse so it's something only SHE can have--and Weaver compliments her problem-solving skills. Which she doesn't think she deserves because she still isn't satisfied with what felt like "cheating" on her last mission. But Weaver points out that just using your skills isn't cheating--similar to what Adele said--and reminds Ivy that she seems dissatisfied regardless of whether the mission is too hard or too easy.
0983 weaver #153: my thingWeaver and Ivy take a flight. Ivy talks to Weaver about how Adele processes emotions using her journaling, and wonders if she ought to do something similar. After exploring the different ways the group deals with their emotions, Weaver points out that Ivy's already dealing with hers by mulling them over during flights (accompanied and not). Weaver reflects on how much he loves seeing Ivy's development.
0987 weaver #154: big enoughIvy asks Weaver whether he thinks she should deal with Tab's jealousy by praising her for things she can do better than Ivy and suggesting those things are more important, but Weaver believes Ivy shouldn't have to make herself smaller to make Tab feel big enough. He says Tab's frustration is her own problem and Ivy doesn't need to solve it, but he agrees that the adults there can model appropriate ways to regard Ivy. He privately wonders whether some of Tab's resentment grew out of Ivy being her disciplinarian, and resolves to look into whether the adults there can take responsibility for that.
