0801 ivy #254: in contempt Weaver asks Ivy to let him tell Alix about Adele's dismal prediction for his new house. Ivy begs Weaver to check with Adele before he goes telling anyone anything, because she sees this as knowledge that Adele should decide what to do with. They ask Adele but she says they shouldn't tell Alix--and when she encourages Ivy to think about why she might want his project to fail, she realizes it may actually be a stepping stone to a later building project succeeding. 0802 dax #107: time out Dax comes to pick up Tab for his shift and finds that Ivy, Weaver, and Thursday are playing without her. They've put her behind a rock and isolated her. Ivy claims she was having a meltdown after she was prevented from eating sand, and Weaver claims a time-out technique helps overstimulated kids sometimes. Dax still doesn't like the idea and hopes he can teach the child to calm herself. He is also very struck by Ivy's claim that she kept Tab out of sight so she wouldn't know she was doing something to her and grow to hate her. 0803 ivy #255: a word Ivy is giving Tab a bath and decides to ask her opinion of whether they should get out of the water or stay and play. She's been trying to encourage speech by interacting with her verbally, and now Tab gives baby answers to these kinds of questions. But now it seems to Ivy that Tab wants to get out, except that she is upset regardless of whether Ivy puts her in or takes her out. At one point, she shrieks "no!" Ivy is excited that this is a word and is determined to give her what she wants, but she continues to have trouble interpreting Tab's desires. After a lightbulb moment, Ivy thinks maybe Tab is expressing the wish to fly out of the water like Ivy, without being lifted. That makes her sad. 0804 weaver #116: brother and sister Ivy and Tab come back to see Weaver trying to cook fish. He's annoyed at Alix because he's keeping Thursday and no one else is around. Ivy helps Weaver with the difficult-to-maneuver cooking stick and they discuss how Tab is now saying "no." (She does it again in front of Weaver.) They are excited that maybe she and Thursday will talk to each other soon like siblings growing up together, and Ivy says she wishes she had a sibling. Weaver wonders if maybe what she wants is a best friend since Tab and Thursday really are kind of like younger siblings. 0805 adele #196: unimaginable Adele has Ivy fly them to the city so they can get supplies Alix is demanding for storage and sealing his house against rot. Adele gets a letter from Webster that she wants to talk to him about--he thinks he's guessed her secret and believes she's transgender and trying to hide it from him, and assures her in the letter that he would accept her if that was it. Adele gets Ivy to fall asleep after a heavy dinner and calls Webster to discuss it, dismissing his "theory" only to find him asking her what the real answer is. 0806 adele #197: being otherwise Webster again backs off a bit since Adele reminds him this knowledge is the end of their relationship. But when he asks her to answer whether she would be with him if it wasn't true, she first struggles to imagine being human and then agrees that if all else was the same, she would be with him. They then engage in some "Would you still love me if?" wordplay, and one of the hypothetical scenarios Adele offers is whether he would still love her if she were an alien. He claims it wouldn't matter, but she knows he'd be horrified outside a game. She feels some wrongness about it too, but not on his level. 0807 ivy #256: what love does Ivy wakes up in a weird place to a weird noise. She realizes she's in the hotel and there's a tone coming from the phone after Adele has fallen asleep. She wakes Adele up to stop the noise and they discuss Adele's relationship with the man she was on the phone with. Ivy is annoyed that Adele still wants to talk to him even though he won't accept her. 0808 weaver #117: something bad Weaver greets Ivy when he realizes she and Adele have arrived back home. They discuss the trip and Ivy seems to think it's reasonable to invite Weaver to join her next time, while he is adamant that he can't go to a city in any way that would be worth it because he's not human. Ivy brings up Adele's situation with her secret about not being human and how frustrated she is that Adele won't stop talking to Webster even though she knows she'll get hurt. Weaver suggests she'll also be hurt if she ends the relationship, and reminds Ivy that they can't control her relationship. 0809 ivy #257: he wants Ivy watches Tab and Thursday playing. Thursday tries to wiggle into Tab's clothes and Ivy tries to figure out why he's doing it and what he wants. He begins using words and Ivy interprets him as wanting a shirt. She puts her doll's shirt on him and he likes it even though she didn't think he would want his wings trapped under clothes. She hopes Adele can make him some clothes that will fit. 0810 weaver #118: outside Weaver decides to visit Alix and offer him candy, but his playful way of knocking on the door (throwing acorns) just attracts annoyance from Alix. But he wants the candy, so he lets Weaver in. Weaver ends up just asking him what happened to cause him to isolate himself. Alix admits that he just got sick of the other companions mocking him for wanting to have an inside home, so he ended up outside. 0811 weaver #119: influential Alix is having a meal with the group for the first time in a while and Dax announces that they've all missed him. Alix wants to personally hear the others say they individually missed him though, and while Adele and Ivy agree that they missed him, Weaver is irritated that Alix wants the acknowledgment. But when Alix points out that he's influential in their group, he grudgingly (and mockingly) acknowledges missing Alix and philosophizes about being a leader. 0812 dax #108: invited Dax asks Alix if he plans to sleep in the cave with the group tonight. After demurring and claiming he doesn't want to drag his bed in, Dax offers to get it if that's the reason, and they have an argument about how everyone perceives Alix's choices; that regardless of whether he includes himself or excludes himself, everyone's obviously judging him and looking down on him. Dax disagrees that this is how others see Alix, and while he does decide to return to his shack, he agrees to talk to Dax about it more in the morning. 0813 dax #109: rewrite When Dax wakes up, Alix is up and has prepared tea for both of them. They discuss what Dax thinks Alix should do so people will like him more, because as far as Alix is concerned, everyone likes Dax. Dax, for his part, honestly hasn't thought about it much--it's pretty effortless for him because he's not always trying to be liked. He suggests Alix "rewrite" bad interactions from his life and think about how things might have happened differently if he'd chosen different words and different behavior. He really wants Alix to think about the people he knows and their feelings, not so much about how to manipulate them into liking him. 0812 weaver #120: homework Weaver thinks Dax shouldn't try to teach Alix better social skills. He thinks Alix deserves to be disliked and shunned if he does and says the things he does, and doesn't want Dax to have to spend valuable time and energy on teaching him how not to be a jerk. Dax argues that Alix may actually deserve more focused care because he's also been through experiences none of them have. Weaver is frustrated to think Dax has a point and wonders what kind of homework he would be assigned. 0815 ivy #258: waiting for ten Ivy and Tab are playing when Alix approaches and says he wants to play their game with them. Ivy's a little surprised he wants to play, but he's being nice, and they make sand balls to help Tab learn to count (and let her have the fun of destroying the sand balls at ten). Alix wants to understand what Tab likes since he usually just gets to watch Thursday, and he comes up with new ideas to modify the game to help her learn to count. 0816 adele #198: faking it Alix comes in to see Adele, who is repairing some clothes. He confesses to her that he's rearranged his "assignment" from Dax to try to reprise successful social interactions, and worries that if he's trying to have another positive interaction with Adele, he'd be doing it in some kind of fake way. She discusses it with him and says she liked his offered back rub, and accepts another one. 0817 weaver #121: one of the bros Alix follows Weaver and Dax on one of their moon ritual nights and asks to come along. He somewhat begrudgingly but sincerely explains why he wants to be included, and Weaver privately panics thinking Dax will be swayed and invite him in, while Weaver doesn't want that at all. He's surprised when Dax instead just tells him no and they'll talk more later, and when Dax and Weaver compare notes, Dax points out he didn't want Alix there either and besides that he needs to know how to deal with it if people do say no to him. 0818 dax #110: your thing Dax stops to talk to Alix in the morning and they discuss Dax's decision to not include Alix in their ritual. As Dax suspected, Alix now sees himself as an ultimate outsider even though Dax disincluded him because he knew Alix was not interested in the central meaning of the moon ritual. He is happy to engage in other bonding moments, but not to use moon rituals as an all-purpose excuse to bond with each other. Alix admits that his quest for a house was something he was passionate about and he felt rejected when everyone disliked it. Dax agrees to spend some time with Alix in the house and figure things out. 0819 ivy #259: just watching Adele and Ivy are doing pebble work again, and Ivy is content to let Adele do her own work while she helps instead of pushing for any particular information herself. She's impressed that Adele can handle this kind of information and is glad it's not her business. 0820 dax #111: in our nature Dax and Alix discuss why Dax doesn't like to be inside and why Alix feels the urge to create a structure rather than live in a natural one. Dax feels like living in a natural shelter makes him part of the environment, while Alix feels like he comes from a long line of people who build because they're driven to make their environment better and more comfortable. They discuss the value of shelter and what kind of constructed shelter Dax would want. 0821 ivy #260: how much she can say Ivy enjoys encouraging Tab to talk and thinks about what she learns in association with watching Tab learn. Tab asks for breakfast in garbled baby talk, and Ivy figures it out, but struggles with understanding what she wants when the girl doesn't want to be put down. It turns out she just wants to hold hands because she saw that in a book. 0822 adele #199: running hot When Ivy's resistance to the cold is brought up by Alix again, Adele looks into it a bit and realizes it doesn't mean anything's wrong with her; she just runs hot. Alix is still concerned and wants her to stay warm. She cuddles with Weaver and Adele ruminates about the minor differences Ivy might have, which are probably always overshadowed by her major differences. She wonders what Ivy's adolescence will be like. 0823 dax #112: honoring a loss Alix's predicted house fire manifests. He escapes unscathed but the house is ruined. Dax takes his items back to the cave and Alix feels defeated and embarrassed but rather resigned. Dax tries to talk him out of feeling like fate is his boss (in the form of Adele's predictions), then finally recognizes he isn't in a frame of mind to hear this advice. He decides he's okay with mourning his loss right now. 0824 meri lin #132: tiptoed around Fred's sister Dorothy confirms to Meri Lin that of course she remembers Amanda, but she thought she had to talk around the missing child to avoid unpleasantness. Meri Lin speaks on how she feels about that, and when Dorothy offers to have a children's book made for Benjamin about Amanda, she thinks it might be nice and agrees. 0825 ivy #261: playing with me Ivy is painting Tab's nails and can't figure out why Tab keeps seeming to get sand on her wet nails deliberately. She eventually interprets Tab's partial sentences to understand she's comparing the sand to glitter, and likes glitter after seeing it in a book. Ivy and Tab take turns throwing sand at each other and Ivy thinks for once they're playing a game together that they both enjoy. 0826 weaver #122: sinking in Alix asks Dax and Weaver if he can come with them on their foraging trip. They observe that he's been in a better mood lately and ask if he's been doing his homework, at which point he gets embarrassed and just wants to not talk about it. They acknowledge that if they haven't noticed any weird "techniques" lately, he must be doing better with his social skills. Alix considers Weaver's admission a compliment, which he denies. 0827 adele #200: more to unlearn Adele and Alix are watching Tab and Ivy play in the water. Alix gives instruction to keep Ivy in control of her possibly overly rough actions. Adele privately evaluates Alix's interventions and is impressed that he consults her for whether he should give permission for Thursday to play with them. She thinks he's doing pretty well overall even though the bar is low for his behavior, but she acknowledges he has more to unlearn. 0828 ivy #262: not calling him Ivy and Adele go to the city and Ivy keeps reminding Adele that she promised not to call Webster. When Ivy wakes up and finds out Adele did write him a letter even though she kept her promise not to call him, Ivy is upset because she just doesn't want Adele to communicate with Webster at all. Adele gently explains that Ivy can't decide such things, and she understands but is frustrated. 0829 adele #201: some of it is good Adele wants a word with Ivy, who has clearly been brooding about Adele's refusal to give up her relationship with Webster. She thanks her for being mature about it, acknowledging that Ivy is begrudgingly leaving Adele's business alone. And she says some parts of this relationship are good in a way she doesn't get to have in any other way, which makes her tolerate the bad aspects. Ivy seems to partially understand what Adele says, and thinks about comparing it to something in her life, but doesn't finish the thought. 0830 dax #113: listening to love Dax gets a chance to talk to Ivy and finds she's frustrated over Adele's relationship. He gives her some perspectives and finds Ivy just really wants Adele to stop being friends with Webster. Dax lets Ivy listen to a love advice radio program and she seems to understand love a bit better afterwards. 0831 adele #202: because of love Ivy finds Adele writing a letter to Webster and volunteers that she's reluctantly okay with it now because she understands that love is so important to people, based on the radio show she listened to with Dax. She expresses being sad that Adele is going to lose her love, and Adele is interested in the radio show. 0832 ivy #263: biggest weirdo Ivy breaks up a fight over a toy between Tab and Thursday, and Dax seems curious about why she physically got up and separated Tab instead of doing something with her abilities. Ivy tries to explain it but is very self-conscious about other people thinking about how she does things uniquely. Adele volunteers that she sometimes has to change her behavior to make others feel more comfortable too, and Ivy privately concludes that none of this helps and she feels like a weirdo. 0833 weaver #123: how to run Ivy and Weaver watch Tab and Thursday playing, and Ivy makes some observations about how she admires Tab's ability to run. Weaver and Ivy discuss how neither of them really has any experience running and how Ivy might be able to learn if she practiced but realizes she's self-conscious about talking to Weaver about it. He reminds her that Tab can do what she can do because she can't do what Ivy does. 0834 adele #203: our big picture Adele sees that Alix has made a little gazebo from the remains of his original house. They discuss the possibility of having a more permanent structure in the future, with Adele finally coming to the conclusion that she wants her future prophecy students to have a comfortable place to study. She thinks it will be a while before any structure can be built, but she's interested in seriously thinking about it and planning for the future. She will bring some planning resources back next time she goes to the city. 0835 dax #114: waiting to fail Alix interrupts Dax picking flowers to ask if he can talk to him about Adele. Alix is mad that Adele now likes his "build a house" idea and is willing to lend her skills to make it happen when she wasn't interested in helping when it was his own goal. In a foul-language-laced rant, Alix asks if Dax agrees that Adele should have helped him instead of just watching him fail. Dax disagrees and Alix concludes that everyone will always think he's a jerk no matter what he does, while Dax privately ponders whether he would feel Adele had withheld info from him if she didn't give it to him upfront. He concludes that if Adele doesn't volunteer information, she probably has a reason, and doesn't believe he or Alix are entitled to it. 0836 ivy #264: two minutes Tab gets annoyed when Thursday steps on a book she's reading, so Ivy has to break up a fight when Tab keeps poking him and knocking him over. She takes Tab away for two minutes at the "time out rock" and waits for her to calm down. Tab seems to take it relatively well even though she is sullen. Ivy hopes they'll be able to really understand each other one day. 0837 meri lin #133: sweet of her Meri Lin and Fred's guests stay overnight and say some uncomfortable things in the morning. After they leave Meri Lin tells Fred about his sister's comments on making a book about their daughter, and he warns her that sometimes his sister drops out of projects or takes them over completely. 0838 adele #204: strange balance Adele takes Ivy into the forest to harvest some bark from fallen trees so they can make mats to sit on and do some weaving. They have a short discussion about how Ivy sometimes forgets that Adele knows things, but thinks she shouldn't forget such things because it bothers her when others forget how things are different for her too. They take some wood and bark back to the home base. 0839 ivy #265: like braiding Adele teaches Ivy how to make a loom and create woven mats on it. Ivy enjoys the process, feeling that it's meditative, like braiding, and it takes her a long time even though she can do it faster than anyone else. She is excited to make mats for everyone that they can decorate. 0840 weaver #124: not so calm Weaver checks out Adele's weaving and when Adele reveals that it's a calming process for her, Weaver asks if she is trying to calm down from something. Adele examines that question deeply and concludes she must be anxious if this calming-down procedure feels like a relief. Weaver likes her honesty. 0841 dax #115: interdimensional carrot Dax finds something weird growing out of the sand and gets Adele to identify it. She claims it's a vegetable similar to a carrot, but from another dimension--probably brought by the faeries. Dax is excited at the idea of trying to grow the carrots on purpose and plans to make a gourmet meal with them if it turns out he likes them. 0842 ivy #266: this much sillier Ivy keeps having to pull Thursday out of Tab's hair and feels like they're very silly because they keep getting into trouble the same ways, while she as an older child can see these things coming. She takes Tab to the scratching posts to wear her nails down and meets Dax, who wants to feed Thursday some of his carrot. Thursday isn't impressed and they're disappointed. 0843 adele #205: crowd-pleaser Adele observes Dax's triumph as he makes a rabbit stew including the carrots they found. Everyone loves it but they're not sure about the children. Thursday doesn't seem interested until Adele realizes that his people like the greens rather than the root. They put that in the soup for Thursday and suddenly he likes it. 0844 weaver #125: behind her back Adele asks Ivy and Weaver if they want her to pick up anything on her solitary trip to the City. Ivy and Weaver immediately realize she's not asking Ivy to fly her there because she wants to talk to Webster. After submitting their requests, Ivy and Weaver talk about Adele's relationship and what might happen with it. 0845 adele #206: forward or back Adele gets her tasks done in the City and hastens to call Webster. Her joy quickly evaporates because Webster gets right down to business: he can't talk to her anymore unless they can "go forward," and to him that means she must agree to meet him in person (though he is okay with her staying hidden). 0846 ivy #267: weird feeling Weaver encounters Ivy playing with Adele's pebbles and asks what she's doing. She says she woke up with a weird feeling that something bad was going to happen with Adele, and was hoping she could use the pebbles to see visions about what's happening to her because she's done the shared visions with Adele before. But it doesn't work for her--all she can do is imitate it--and Weaver tries to comfort her. 0847 adele #207: you asked for this Adele agrees to meet with Webster, but that doesn't mean he'll be allowed to see her. She won't go to a restaurant and instead prefers to sit in the dark in a park with him, with her robe on. She makes this concession and is pretty annoyed about it, but becomes even more so when she realizes Webster is going to keep pushing boundaries and she's going to have to break up with him soon. 0848 dax #116: enjoy the silence Dax waits for Weaver for one of their full moon rituals, but Weaver is late. As a result, Dax accidentally gets some time to himself and realizes it's a different enough experience that he's missed this kind of communion and appreciates it. When Weaver does show up (with a poem he'd been writing having delayed his arrival), the night moves on as normal. 0849 adele #208: out loud Adele has set up a lantern-lit fast food meal for Webster and she has anxious thoughts. When he arrives and casually touches her arm, she has a terribly strong reaction and can't help but look at the future regarding how he would react if she confessed her origins, wondering if she can settle once and for all whether they could be together. What she sees is scarring and hurtful and she knows she can never let him touch her again. And then she has to go on with the date pretending he didn't do any of those things in her visions, even though he would. She can't react because it wasn't out loud. 0850 ivy #268: nest Ivy doesn't have anyone to hang out with so she listens to the radio in the forest and sketches in Adele's diary. She ends up attracting Neptune, and the two of them chill for a while. Then she wonders whatever happened to Neptune's dress, which was shown on Adele's sketch of her. Neptune, to Ivy's surprise, takes her to a distant set of high caves and shows her her "nest" of hoarded belongings. Ivy wonders if she should tell anyone else. 0851 adele #209: what didn't happen Adele decides Webster needing her physical presence (and wanting to escalate things) is beyond what she's willing to tolerate and calls an end to the meeting. She goes back to the hotel and sends Webster back home, with the promise that she'll call him if he wants her to. (She'll know.) She then thinks about how she wanted to stay in one place instead of going forward, and though she's sad, she's proud of herself for taking a stand. 0852 weaver #126: no words Weaver sees Adele after her trip. She gives him gifts and he brings up Ivy having been worried about Adele while she was gone. He asks if she had any reason to be worried--Adele says she's fine even though her time with Webster was unpleasant--and he asks if she would like to talk about it. She declines, but appreciates that he would be there for her. 0853 meri lin #134: now that you're big On Benjamin's second birthday, Meri Lin gives herself a pep talk (pretending it's a talk for her son), discussing the uncharted territory she now enters as a parent of a two-year-old. Amanda disappeared before she turned two, so everything Meri Lin now does as a parent is going to be beyond what she's explored before. She looks at photo albums with Benjamin and looks forward to adding his two-year-old birthday pictures to his album. 0854 dax #117: getting long Dax observes Ivy cutting Tab's hair so she can continue to have bangs, and they talk about how the different people in the group have different hair growth patterns, along with differences in how they handle the growth of their fingernails, claws, and horns. Dax thinks it's interesting that Ivy helps the children with their grooming but doesn't know she shouldn't bite her toenails. 0855 ivy #269: dimensions Adele asks Ivy to participate in a "big" prediction with her pebbles, and assures her it won't hurt her. Ivy thinks it's very strange since none of the other divinations have hurt either. She is cautioned to not try to follow Adele's train of thought in the predictions as it may be overwhelming and dangerous. She is able to turn her attention away and actually really enjoys just zoning out and not "looking." Adele reveals that she's investigating doing more with the portals that can be made from the pool and establishing a portal network. Ivy thinks that sounds really interesting, except for that Adele might use it to see Webster more. 0856 adele #210: the pioneer Adele requests Alix's help in building entrance tunnels for the portal openings she plans to create with her new knowledge about portal travel. She says she will need Alix's underwater skills to build tunnels and Ivy's help to do the lifting and remove the water from their tunnels. Alix is happy to be helpful but suspicious of Adele's wish for his help in the decision-making, too. He refuses to be the first to go through a portal and she admits it should be her. And she accidentally draws attention to Weaver's intelligence when compared with Alix, which he treats as an insult. 0857 weaver #127: not for me Weaver and Ivy are hanging out and Weaver recommends that Ivy stop eating an apple while lying down. She counters that it isn't dangerous for her because she could save herself if she choked. While Weaver tries to argue the practicality of still not giving herself a chance to start choking, Ivy gets frustrated and declares herself above rules, punctuating the statement by launching herself into the air to demonstrate that she can do whatever she wants. Weaver clarifies that at least she should not eat lying down in front of the kids because they look up to her, and he ponders how to go forward enforcing rules with someone who believes herself invincible. 0858 adele #211: scarily simple Adele opens her first portal connection and thinks about her connections to these passages, and ends up going through to New York City. She's keeping a log of where the portals go and is looking forward to their group being able to travel more conveniently. 0859 dax #118: without telling us Dax thinks the pool looks more silvery than usual so he gets Alix to confirm he's not imagining it. They discuss whether this means there's another flash, but Weaver flies in and explains why that makes no sense. He then goes swimming and dispels the others' concerns about whether that's dangerous. Alix thinks Adele might have opened a portal and gone somewhere without them, and Weaver feels very confident in his assessment that if anything was dangerous about her travel or the pool left behind, she would have told them. Dax admires Weaver's confidence in his understanding of Adele. 0860 adele #212: something sweet to share Adele learns a few things about how to make traveling easier if water portals are involved, and enjoys a few hours shopping and hanging out at a café eating sweets. She relishes the idea that she can come out more often and get more treats, though she'll need a better system for getting cash if she's going to spend it more often too. She decides to buy some sweets for the crew. 0861 ivy #270: i could Adele comes home and the group greets her and asks about her adventures. She is pleased to share her cinnamon rolls. When Alix points out that it's inconvenient that they'd have to get wet traveling there and back, Adele says you can't put yourself in a bag and still get through the opening, but Ivy points out that she could. She's annoyed that people keep talking about things as if her abilities aren't being figured in. 0862 weaver #128: spared Adele wakes up sick and the rest of the crew tries to take care of her, but then they all start getting sick themselves, one by one, until the two younger children and Weaver are the only ones left. Weaver is frustrated that he's alone caring for the kids and four sick people when he thinks he's the most useless adult there. He hopes it will be over quickly and that he won't succumb himself. 0863 adele #213: minor inconvenience Adele and Alix wake up relieved to be over the worst of their sickness. Weaver comes in to check on Adele and expresses relief in their recovery too. Alix argues with Adele about why she didn't predict and avoid the sickness, and their typical reactions reassure them both that they're back to their old selves. 0864 ivy #271: underweight Ivy feels almost back to normal and seeks reassurance from Adele. Ivy doesn't want the food Adele offers but she says Ivy should eat it because she's underweight. Alix chimes in to argue with Adele about whether she should be that thin while Ivy remains confused about what size she's supposed to be. 0865 dax #119: my own little concert Dax wakes up feeling mostly recovered but quickly discovers that Thursday is sitting on his chest, looking for warmth. He sings some songs for Dax, which he enjoys even though he doesn't understand them. Alix checks on him and he says he's feeling better and enjoying the concert. 0866 weaver #129: some kind of life Ivy's too tired to go flying and is grumpy. Weaver tries to talk to her about her issues and she's confused about how sickness works. They discuss biology and germs. Weaver wonders about the differences between his body and Ivy's. 0867 meri lin #135: if he meets her Meri Lin and Fred, while perusing a tabloid paper, discuss how much they're going to tell their son about their daughter's powers. They decide it doesn't make sense to tell him about her if they don't have proof, but they agree that it feels wrong to hide it from him. 0868 ivy #272: a little castle Ivy is building a castle and Alix, wearing his cape, wanders over to compliment it. He expresses the wish to live in a castle like that and they discuss whether their upcoming house could be somewhat like a castle. Alix gives Ivy a backhanded compliment on her ability to have a conversation and she privately thinks she's smarter than he is. 0869 dax #120: future carrots Dax is inspired by Adele's latest calendar revision on the wall of the cave to go check on his carrots and talk to Adele about getting a paper calendar to plan gardening activities. He finds out from her that seeds can even be acquired in stores and he's very excited. He wants Adele to pick up calendar planners and seeds for him next time she goes to the city. 0870 adele #214: damage potential Tab and Thursday have hit their "wanting to help with everything" phase and Adele is trying to provide structure for it while keeping them from squabbling. Adele has a moment when Tab gets rowdy during laundry chores and she has to keep Tab away from Thursday to avoid disaster. She redirects them to positive contributions but recognizes that they aren't out of the danger zone. 0871 ivy #273: something that stings Ivy greets Tab when she has returned from helping Adele with laundry and she quickly gets frustrated when Tab has a bunch of "why" questions about laundry-related terminology that she can't answer. When Ivy raises her voice Tab resents being yelled at and Ivy gets frustrated at how hard it is to be the bigger kid treating younger ones delicately. 0872 adele #215: get real Adele uses the portal pool to visit the city again and get calendars and seeds for Dax. She admits to herself that she wants to talk to Webster even though she's not through being mad at him. When she checks her mail she has two letters from him about him seeing a therapist and wanting her to be real with him. She writes him a very brief note and acknowledges to herself that neither of them can be real and keep their relationship. 0873 weaver #130: like a parent Weaver listens to Ivy's hard day with Tab, and acknowledges that she's being very mature about how she handles still "liking" Tab even when she's being a brat. They discuss Ivy's perception of how old she is. 0874 dax #121: the planting process Dax is planting his new parsnip seeds, preparing some land for the planting. Ivy flies in and wants to help, but she makes the process of tilling a rectangle of ground so instantaneous that Dax is disappointed with the lack of connection. He sends her off to collect rocks for a border instead because he wants the hands-on intimacy with the soil as he plants his seeds. 0875 ivy #274: big boy belt Ivy takes Thursday to Adele to discuss whether he can get a waist belt. Adele is still modifying it for him and Thursday is disappointed. He goes off with Ivy to play with Tab and realizes as they fly that Ivy is flying without wings, and wants to know how she does that. Ivy is a little perplexed as to whether he just noticed that. 0876 weaver #131: you first Weaver is teasing Alix for being so hesitant to go through the pool for the first time. Adele invites him to come along after Alix thinks Weaver should be willing to prove he's not scared of it, so he makes the trip with Adele. Alix follows and they go on their errand, leaving Weaver alone since he can't go with them. He has to trust Adele's assessment that being there by himself is rational, but being alone near a city freaks him out. 0877 adele #216: stay small Adele and Alix go to the shops to get a small pot from a scratch-off lottery and check out some materials for upcoming building work. When Adele says she doesn't want to leave Weaver alone too long, Alix mocks him for his presumed-to-be-unwarranted fear, and Adele has to put him in his place about Weaver's reactions in light of bad experiences. Alix feels shamed and reacts bitterly as usual. 0878 dax #122: paper crowns Dax comes upon Tab, Thursday, and Ivy making paper crowns. Ivy has a question she wants to ask Adele and when Dax tells her that Adele is out of town, Ivy expresses annoyance and wistfulness that she was not told since the others don't consider that information relevant to her since she is not an adult. Dax solves a construction problem on the paper crowns and thanks Ivy for her help with gathering rocks, and is surprised to realize that she seems to have picked up on his desire to place the rocks himself. He privately recognizes her maturity. 0879 weaver #132: overcoming Weaver is alone with his thoughts while waiting for Alix and Adele to return. He ponders the difference between fear and anger with regard to his feelings about his old captor, and wonders what he would do if he saw that guy again. Weaver is proud to have overcome what held him back, but is frustrated that the imprisonment will always be part of his story. When they return, Weaver finds out he could have gone home at any point, and is annoyed but glad he got to chew through these thoughts. 0880 ivy #275: how to help Tab approaches Ivy and reveals she has lost a tooth. Ivy is immediately disgusted and has trouble staying calm, which scares Tab. Knowing Tab just wants help and reassurance, she does her best to suppress her reactions, and tells Tab it's normal and she should go to Adele for guidance. 0881 adele #217: every kid Ivy, seeming a little panicked, brings Tab to Adele with her first lost tooth. Adele tries to explain that it's normal and what the process is about, and she wants Ivy to listen too, but she's clearly grossed out by the tooth loss and trying to make the best of it. She's also clearly alienated when Adele reads a story to Tab about losing teeth and Ivy realizes the experience they're describing as universal doesn't apply to her. When Tab notices a mention of the Tooth Fairy, Ivy volunteers to give Tab a prize to participate in this ritual even though they've all acknowledged that the Tooth Fairy is just a story. 0882 dax #123: the real gift-givers Ivy tells the others that she has made a necklace for Tab's first "Tooth Fairy" gift and suggests everyone might want to take turns giving her tooth prizes. Alix thinks it's a shame that they already told Tab the Tooth Fairy isn't real and everyone else, especially Dax, disagrees with him. Alix and Dax argue about whether the deception is harmless and fun. Ivy weighs in to say she thinks she would rather adults tell her the truth about things too. 0883 ivy #276: swallowed Ivy is awakened by Tab and Thursday arguing over whether Thursday deserves a necklace too. Tab feels her necklace gift is a special thing reserved for rewarding her for her tooth loss, and Thursday insists he has also lost a tooth and it disappeared because he swallowed it. Ivy is able to force herself to check Thursday's missing tooth evidence so he won't go wake Adele up to judge, and Ivy agrees to make him a necklace too. Tab feels that Thursday is always copying her. 0884 adele #218: maturely Tab and Thursday argue about their gifts for losing teeth and they want more information from Adele about which one of them is older. When Adele decides to tell them and reveals that Thursday is older, she also scolds him for gloating about it and wants him to act maturely. Adele thinks about their future education now that they're really starting to stabilize as a family. 0885 dax #124: fix it Dax is bathing when he's surprised by Neptune coming out of the forest and asking him to help her repair a rip in her dress. He has some complicated feelings about being seen with no clothes on, but finds himself not minding as much as he would if it were anyone else. He's not sure if it's because of a problematic attitude toward her or whether it has something to do with her also being nude or unable to perceive the meaning of nakedness. 0886 meri lin #136: only in out hearts Meri Lin receives draft pages for the children's book she'd talked to Fred's sister about developing for Amanda. She's dismayed to find it's clearly a book for families with a passed away child, and when she calls Dorothy to say it's not appropriate for Amanda, she defends the book as more relatable for more families. Meri Lin feels she shouldn't have expected anything actually appropriate, but acknowledges that her story is a hard one to tell. 0887 weaver #133: nonfiction Weaver is reading early feminist literature and Ivy interrupts him to ask what the story is about. He explains what nonfiction is and Ivy is concerned about why men think they can tell women what to think and do based on what Weaver's old book says. Weaver is sad that this ugliness exists in the world. 0888 adele #219: the boss Alix comes to Adele to ask for her advice and sort of her permission to build some improvements onto his gazebo and add a shed. Adele likes his ideas and he's surprised to have her approval and respect. She's willing to get Ivy's help to get the materials. 0889 ivy #277: just because they're new Adele approaches Ivy to help her with an errand and she is asked to go through the pool for the first time. She's a little hesitant but doesn't want to reject something weird just because it's new. An order of shed-building equipment is prepared and waiting outside a hardware store for Ivy to take home, and Alix doesn't want to fly back with Ivy and Adele. He'd rather take the portal even though it's also a weird, unexplained phenomenon because it will make him uncomfortable for less time. Ivy thinks about her weird relationship with Alix. 0890 weaver #134: if you want to help Alix introduces his shed plan to Ivy, Dax, and Weaver. He offers them a chance to help him and they're not too excited about it considering it seems like everything will be done quickly and easily by Ivy. But when Alix says he had hoped they could do it as a group, Weaver wisely points out that there's a difference between saying they can help if they want versus saying he wants them to help. They all want to help Alix if he wants them to. 0891 dax #125: our way Alix is tutoring Dax on how to build some cabinets for the gazebo, and when Dax realizes Ivy is just watching and not helping, he asks her to consider trying to use her hands and pick up some skills. She doesn't want to because she has her own way to do difficult tasks and only wants to help if they tell her what to do. When Dax suggests she might be glad she knows how to use her hands if she were to lose her energy one day, she seems disturbed and annoyed, and he realizes he asked her to imagine something pretty horrible. He apologizes and she seems to understand and forgive, but he still feels like this was a misstep. 0892 adele #220: friends who flirt Adele goes on a getaway mini-trip to the city and collects a letter from Webster. He seems to have settled on a surprising conclusion: neither of them can have what they want, but maybe they can be friends. She uses a hidden key to get into a vacant apartment and uses the phone to call him. They talk about friendship and admit they both like to flirt, so this might be difficult, but they're willing to give it a try. Adele knows even this is useless since it still will not end well, but she can't help wanting it. 0893 ivy #278: motivate Ivy talks to Weaver about her frustrating interaction with Dax, and perceives that he is siding with Dax. But he clarifies that adults try to motivate kids to do things they think are good for them, and if he apologized then he probably understands why it was wrong. Also, Dax is rarely wrong in his interactions with her, so she should be able to let this slide considering his record. She feels calmer, but still is irritated that nobody knows why Dax's thought experiment bothered her so much. 0894 adele #221: their names Adele wraps up her conversation with Webster, saying she has to get back to her crew, and he asks her about who they are and why they get to be part of her life in person while he doesn't. She says the reason is connected to what she can't tell him about herself, but she consents to telling him a little about them (including their names), and worries that she might accidentally drop information she doesn't want to reveal if she doesn't mostly keep her crew in a separate universe from their conversations. 0895 weaver #135: finishing touches Weaver carefully constructs a gazebo housewarming gift for Alix made of mud, acorn caps, hair, moldy food, and a dead hermit crab. He hides it in one of the new cupboards and waits for Alix to find it. When he does, he jokingly acts like he appreciates it and that makes Weaver kind of want to give him a real gift--without playing too much into his evil plan to be friendly, that is. 0896 ivy #279: weird day Alix and Ivy are about to start the shed-building project but he can tell she's not enthusiastic about it and seems to be cooperating reluctantly. He tells her they'll just do it another day and asks her to go spend time doing something else. She can't figure out why she's feeling blah and after thinking a while she talks to Adele, who assures her it's okay to just have a weird day sometimes. 0897 dax #126: everybody's weird Dax is entertaining Tab by throwing her in the air. He gets too tired to do it safely but she wants more, so he suggests she approach Ivy, but Tab doesn't like this idea because she isn't a fan of how Ivy performs the task. She thinks Ivy is weird and that her powers are weird because she doesn't understand them. Dax is a little rattled at that idea and hopes he can help her understand. Then he compromises by tossing her in the air over the ocean to let her land in the water. 0898 meri lin #137: mean little leader Meri Lin goes to the park with her friends and watches their sons play, but Priya's son starts bullying Benjamin. Meri Lin isn't sure whether she should intervene, but Priya takes care of it and leaves Meri Lin questioning whether she protects her child enough. 0899 adele #222: maybe it's nothing Alix asks Adele whether something is going on with Ivy that made her listless when it was time to build the shed. Adele, instead of really answering Alix, is critical of his choice to ask her what's wrong with Ivy instead of asking IVY what's wrong with Ivy. Alix is defensive but sees her point. Adele does wonder what Ivy's teen years will be like but doesn't appreciate that Alix is always expecting the worst from Ivy. 0900 ivy #280: to be and do Ivy keeps reading children's books where the kids want to be something when they grow up. She doesn't recognize most of their career choices and doesn't know what she wants out of life, and furthermore she feels like she's supposed to have an opinion on the matter. So she asks Weaver what HE wants to be when he grows up. He claims to already be an adult--she knew that--and suggests having a traditional job isn't necessary for people who live more directly like they do. Ivy is encouraged to ask Alix how he felt about having jobs.
