0701 meri lin #127: harder to read Meri Lin plays a tape for baby Benjamin and he spontaneously dances, which looks like a weird expression of joy since he does it without smiling. Meri Lin wishes he were more demonstrative with his emotions and tries to encourage him to laugh. 0702 adele #167: stepping-stone world Adele continues to observe the flash. She worries that the human world will be connected to Shio, because she's realized Shio colonized and "stole" other worlds, and she doesn't know if she should be afraid of it. But the pool instead connects to a world on the human world's same orbital track, Ment. Then Ment's pool connects to another dimension called Gow, and then as soon as Gow throws a one-way connection back to the human world, bubbles begin to surface in the pool. Adele knows someone or something is coming. 0703 dax #89: dark shape A dark shape rises in the pool and Dax moves to protect his family, wondering at his efforts as he performs them. But then Adele observes the shape is a hurt child and demands Dax retrieve her from the water. Dax believes the girl is injured. Adele recognizes she has a heartbeat but no breath. She performs a brief breathing exercise and the child's breath returns, but she's in poor shape, and Dax fears the future. 0704 adele #168: transparent Adele is smitten with the nonhuman girl who's just come through the portal, but Dax points out she has a terrible head wound; they just couldn't see it because the child's blood is clear. Adele asks Dax to bring supplies, and while she thinks the girl will live, she can't help but notice that these injuries were inflicted intentionally; she gleans that her father tried to kill her. 0705 ivy #225: so mature before Alix and Ivy are still out in the forest and Ivy has grown irritable. She demands food and wants to go back where Adele and the others are. Alix vetoes the request and tries to pacify her, but she whines. Then they see faeries departing the forest and Alix hopes Adele knows they're coming. 0706 weaver #97: useless lump Weaver is standing by watching Dax and Adele take care of the wounded girl who's just come out of their pool. He feels pretty useless, though he does happen to be paying attention in time to notify the others that the faeries are returning to their homeworld. Adele then assigns Weaver to clean the new child up since she needs someone with small hands who can do detail work and she's feeling shaky and overwhelmed. He agrees. 0707 dax #90: wild As Dax is holding the new child and Weaver is cleaning her face, he senses that she is about to lash out. Dax is able to catch her hand before she scratches him. The child becomes agitated, flailing about screaming and trying to scratch, and Dax is stuck holding all her limbs so she doesn't hurt anyone. Adele comes over and says she wants to try cuddling her to calm her down, but the threat of being scratched makes this hard. She has an idea. 0708 ivy #226: a job for me Weaver comes into the forest to tell Ivy she's needed by the pool. Alix comes along with them as Weaver explains that they need Ivy to hold the wild girl still so Adele can give her cuddles and help her sleep. Ivy is excited when she sees the girl and wants to cuddle her herself, though she is cautioned to keep her hands and feet from flailing. 0709 adele #169: still nameless Adele instructs Ivy on how to move the new girl to their cave so they can put her in a bed and let her rest, but Adele is very clear that Ivy must never release her hold on the girl's hands and feet or she can get severely scratched. The child doesn't seem ready to relax, so they give her some space, and Ivy asks about names. Adele has a feeling that maybe she should think about naming the child after her teacher, who wanted a child named after her. 0710 ivy #227: compassionate child Ivy is concerned that the new little girl is going to be bored and sad if she's just stuck on a bed and not sleeping. She asks Adele if she can give the girl food and toys and Adele calls her compassionate. Ivy's glad when Adele agrees to let her interact, and together, they manage to give her water and berries in a bowl. Ivy's optimistic about having a new little friend. 0711 dax #91: the peace she'll need Dax and Weaver discuss having a new child, and Dax casts doubt on whether she IS even "a child." He suggests that her feral behavior may mean she's an animal, and he thinks if she is an animal then it wouldn't be fair to "tame" her. But if she is a sentient child, he is happy to help her learn the peace she will need to coexist with them. 0712 meri lin #128: less expensive Fred asks Meri Lin if he can throw out some of her tabloids, but she hasn't read them yet and says no. But when Fred presses the issue of what they're spending on buying the tabloids, Meri Lin feels that he's calling her irrational. Fred assures her that he does NOT think her looking at tabloids is irrational and just wants her to find a less expensive way to see the content. Meri Lin decides Benjamin should understand from the beginning that his sister is missing and understand what it has done to his family so it's never a mystery. 0713 adele #170: trust us Adele supervises as Ivy continues to coax the new child through eating berries (which she spits out). Ivy wants to release her hands and Adele agrees that she probably feels terrified at not being able to move, but when Ivy lets her hands go she flails and scratches herself. They have to bandage her up. But then Ivy sits opposite the girl and releases just her hands--not her arms--and prompts her to move her hands in the same way she's moving her own. The girl is able to copy the movement and they have their first real connection. 0714 ivy #228: hard to hear Ivy is able to bond with the little girl through imitating hand movements, and asks Adele if she'll be able to talk. They discuss how she came from a place where her father tried to hurt her and Ivy wonders if she's not with her own parents for a similar reason. Adele assures her otherwise but she still wonders, and continues her efforts bonding with the little girl. 0715 adele #171: on our guard Adele watches Ivy and the new girl bonding now that Ivy has freed the girl's arms to play with toys. But as they get tired, Adele has to figure out sleeping arrangements. Ivy suggests she can cuddle with her and keep her energy secured around her for protection, but Adele rejects this as she knows Ivy cannot be depended on to control her will during sleep. Adele develops a plan to put the girl somewhere else, with Weaver standing guard through the night, and Ivy volunteers her doll to keep her company. 0716 dax #92: underestimating me Dax helps Adele and Ivy set the new little girl up for an isolated sleeping space, with Weaver standing guard, but he feels underestimated because he thinks it would be simpler to just let him hold her while she sleeps. Adele wants her to get used to sleeping unrestrained so she'll control HERSELF, though. After they've made their decisions about how to handle the girl, they decide to look for Alix and find he's returned to the cave and has a new problem with him. He's found a tiny boy left behind from the faerie invasion. 0717 adele #172: under control Adele is dismayed that she now has ANOTHER new responsibility helping to take care of a faerie child that Alix apparently found in the woods, having been left behind by the recent faerie invasion. Everything hits Adele at once and she's just so tired that she begins to break down. Dax and Alix reassure her that they can actually handle the situation and she's safe to get some rest. She decides she can trust them. 0718 weaver #98: smallest Weaver, having been assigned to guard duty to protect the new little girl from escaping and hurting herself or anyone else, is waiting in a tree when Dax arrives a couple hours early. He wants some chatting and some help--and he's brought a new companion. Weaver is introduced to the tiny faerie child that Dax has been keeping warm, and now Dax needs Weaver's fine dexterity to sew a strap onto a pouch so he can wear the child close to his warm chest without worrying about hurting him. Weaver helps and is excited about the new child, but he also thinks the future is looking very weird now. 0719 ivy #229: other new child Ivy is up early and ready to have breakfast with the new little girl, but Dax stops her and doesn't want her to get the child up without Adele's agreement. Ivy consents to sit with Dax and wait. In the meantime, she discovers that Dax has another new child in the necklace pouch he's wearing, and she's thrilled to see the tiny faerie boy inside. She hopes she can be in charge of both children. 0720 adele #173: easier on you Adele wakes up and immediately feels the stress of the upcoming day about to overwhelm her. She knows she needs to monitor the flash's activities and try to help the new children adjust to their new lives, but she's struggling. Alix, surprisingly, is there with some morning tea, and then he gives her a massage she actually enjoys. He wants her to know she doesn't have to handle all this by herself. She feels strangely empowered by his support. 0721 dax #93: the other strong one Ivy and Dax are glad to see Adele and Alix coming toward them to figure out how to manage this new day. Ivy is eager to wake the new girl up and feed her, but Adele insists it's not a good idea. Ivy's extremely enthusiastic and won't calm down, gibbering about the possibility of more new children and so excited that they're all together. Adele wants to take Ivy off with her to give her a special job, leaving Dax and Alix in charge of the tiny boy. Dax is confused that he's not being tapped to handle the little girl since he is the only one besides Ivy who can handle her without getting hurt. But he figures Adele knows something he doesn't. 0722 ivy #230: name of today Adele takes Ivy away for a private chat and expresses concern that such a young person is about to be asked to take on a huge responsibility. Adele encourages Ivy to take on the role of being "in charge" of the new little girl, but she should tell Adele if she feels overwhelmed. Ivy is dismissive of this and loves the idea of being given responsibilities. Adele and Ivy decide to name the children, and while Adele gives the girl her teacher's name, Tabitha, Ivy decides to name the boy after the day of the week they found him--Thursday--because otherwise those day words are perfectly good words just not getting used. 0723 dax #94: awake Dax and Alix feed the faerie boy using a juice-soaked cloth. Alix suggests Dax looks tired and should go to bed, but he argues that duty calls; he needs to be around in case the girl wakes up, since Alix wouldn't be able to handle her. Alix offers to go get Adele and Ivy, but first he holds the boy while Dax checks on the girl. Unfortunately, she's got her eyes open and seems inert and cold, though Dax detects breathing. He wants to keep her warm. 0724 adele #174: physical eyes Alix comes to beg Adele to come see the sick girl. She's resistant at first, and offended that Alix apparently doesn't trust her judgment, but she realizes Alix wasn't willing to gamble the girl's health on trusting Adele when she's tired and overwhelmed, so she gives in and brings Ivy to look at her. The child is cold and needs Dax to keep her warm, but Adele assures everyone that she's going to be okay and this is just how people of her race experience illness. 0725 ivy #231: the biggest one awake Adele leaves Ivy in charge and takes Alix off with her. While Dax and Ivy wait for Adele to return with a promised game to keep her occupied, Ivy and Dax chat, and Ivy encourages Dax to go to sleep since he's tired. She wants to be in charge of everyone and take care of all the smaller people (and one big one). She is thrilled to have responsibility. 0726 adele #175: non-essential Adele takes Alix back to the cave with her and explains that she'd like to "deputize" him to run the show when it comes to who's in charge of which kid. When he disagrees with how she'd do it and points out that he should get to do it his way if she's leaving him in charge, she agrees (with the caveat that he should come let her know if his philosophy doesn't work). 0727 ivy #232: burned out Alix returns to the site where Ivy is staying with Dax and the two new children. Dax is asleep and Alix wants to explain how he wants to run things. Ivy's interested in his opinion, but feels like he's angry. Still, his plan to let everyone have some time to themselves as well as run a caretaker role sounds fine to her. 0728 weaver #99: wider by the day Weaver wakes up and checks on Ivy, who's playing with Thursday and leaning against a sleeping Dax. Alix is off finding food so Weaver talks to Ivy about the kids' names and what she wants to do to entertain them (and each other). She wants music and attempts to reach the radio with her abilities, but her energy doesn't reach that far. Weaver goes off to get books to read aloud. 0729 adele #176: orphaned world Adele is finally able to return to the pool and catch up on the flash. She realizes it's been busy and has gone back to her world, followed by connecting to a "ghost world" that has never had any paths to it before. This orphaned world where no one lives is now connected to the rest of the network and she wonders if there's now someone there to talk to. 0730 ivy #233: a distraction Ivy and Weaver are attempting to read to little Tabitha, but she's starting to get agitated, and Ivy can tell she wants to pull her bandages off. They decide to distract her with pineapple juice, which she seems to like, but they give some to Thursday too and he takes off flying after a taste. Weaver pursues him, figuring he just got tired of sitting, while Ivy's left alone with Tabitha. 0731 weaver #100: what-if mode Weaver, while following an excited Thursday into the forest, finds himself pondering how he's supposed to take care of such a creature and what the child really needs. He thinks maybe he's gotten a little attached and keeps wondering what could go wrong and whether the faerie child is where he really should be. 0733 ivy #234: a fun day Ivy takes Tabitha to the river and props a big rock behind her to lean against. She thinks the child is having a good time even though she's sick. She wants her to be able to play more freely so she tells her she's going to release her hands in a limited fashion, but the first thing the girl does is lash out and Ivy has to stop her. She's disappointed and shocked that the little girl is acting like she wants to hurt her even though she cares about her and is being nice to her. 0734 adele #177: what children have i known? Adele appreciates Dax's support and company besides the pool. She tells him everything she's thinking as the pool shifts back to her homeworld, and discusses her lost family and what she remembers about them. She remembers that she and her teacher Tabitha had a fight about Adele wanting to bring her family's picture with her to the human world, and she wonders about her teacher's rationale. 0735 ivy #235: tantrum Ivy's upset that Tabitha tried to scratch her. She aims to calm her down and tries not to take the attack personally, figuring this is a tantrum. She presents Tabitha with a choice between food and a toy and watches her take and eat the food. Ivy's perplexed by the crying that comes next and concerned that she's making an enemy of the child. 0736 weaver #101: the same age Weaver follows Thursday to the river, where he plops down and tries to take a drink. Ivy is there trying to give Tabitha food and a bath. Weaver and Ivy agree that taking care of kids is hard, and Weaver wonders really how okay Ivy is with everything even though she's handling it. Thursday lands on Tabitha's head and she doesn't seem violently opposed to it as she has been to everything else. Weaver is surprised. 0737 ivy #236: wrong before Weaver asks Ivy for confirmation that she's sure Tabitha can't hurt Thursday even though he's in her reach. Ivy gets a little frustrated trying to explain, and Weaver assures her that he does trust her, but that he's been wrong before even when he was sure he was right, and he doesn't want anyone to die over his bad judgment. In any case they agree that Tabitha does not seem violent toward Thursday at all, and they watch the two babble back and forth like they're talking. 0738 weaver #102: what's best for you Weaver and Ivy smell food cooking and are surprised to see Alix is making fish for them. They totally forgot to eat because they were so distracted by the kids. They settle down to eat the fish Alix cooked, and Alix seems offended that Weaver's surprised by how cool he's being. He's part of the family too and wants what's best for them. 0739 ivy #237: desk meeting Since Alix wants a meeting and Ivy's main exposure to "meetings" is a meeting she saw in a children's book, she decides she needs a desk. She lifts up a rock and puts a desk on the beach so they can meet. Alix, Ivy, and Weaver go over brief plans for how they'll care for the children, but just when they feel like they've got it figured out, to everyone's surprise, Thursday falls off Tabitha's head. 0740 adele #178: nurse Alix interrupts Adele's work and says something's wrong with Thursday. He fell off Tabitha's head, and though he's uninjured, he's unconscious. Adele attempts to diagnose him and thinks maybe he needs nutrition ASAP, but they can't figure out how to get juice into him without risking choking. Dax suggests they brush the boy's antennae with juice so he'll "smell" it, and it works enough to wake him up to sip the juice. Adele is impressed. 0741 weaver #103: play it safe Alix returns with Thursday, and though Weaver and Ivy have been anxious, he's fine. Alix explains the circumstances of Thursday's apparent need to eat more frequently than they had expected, and as they discuss more options to feed the kids, Ivy wants fish for Tabitha. Alix doesn't want to allow solid food because he wants to play it safe while she's injured and assumes she might be too young for solid food, and Weaver's a bit disgusted because she looks like a predator to him. They decide to try to make some nut butter for her with Ivy's assistance. 0742 ivy #238: good noise Ivy has made some walnut butter (though she keeps annoying Alix by calling it peanut butter since he gave her that term). She feeds some to Tabitha, who has an over-the-top reaction that Ivy interprets as her loving it. Feeding her berries and walnut butter together is sort of like feeding her peanut butter and jelly, which Alix says is a staple in kids' lunches where he's from. Ivy wants more fun food ideas from Alix. 0743 adele #179: the greater good Dax has left to go check on the others and Adele has fallen to brooding. She's ruminating on what her teacher took from her and whether it was wrong or whether she just can't see the wisdom. How much personal sacrifice is too much? She vows that if she gets a student, she will allow them to participate in their choices in a more authentic way than she was allowed. 0744 dax #96: an outlet Dax returns to the group and observes that Ivy is feeding the unfamiliar walnut butter to Tabitha. When he asks about how she makes it, she describes enjoying the process of crushing the nuts because of how she's allowed to push really hard. He wonders if she needs an outlet or is suffering without one. He offers her a break from taking care of Tabitha and Alix encourages her to take him up on it. She reluctantly does. 0745 ivy #239: the next one to come Ivy's been sent away to take a break from being responsible, and she's a little frustrated over it. She sees Adele sitting by the pool, and instead of receiving her happily, Adele tells her she needs to leave because it's dangerous by the pool. Ivy doesn't understand why Adele wouldn't want her there for protection if something scary might come out of the pool, and she elects to stay against Adele's instructions. 0746 adele #180: no futures i can see Now that Ivy has shown up next to the pool where Adele is sitting, she's scared that Ivy will somehow end up getting lost in another dimension. But Ivy isn't warned away by Adele's suggestion that it's dangerous there; she wants to protect Adele. So Adele searches the future and sees no futures where Ivy actually does what she fears she will. She admits to Ivy that there are no scary creatures and that she just was afraid Ivy would go in the water despite being told not to. Ivy thinks that is a silly worry. 0747 weaver #104: my tone Thursday begins making an odd noise, and as the others debate its meaning, Weaver tries to answer with his own similar noise. Thursday doesn't appear to appreciate his tone. But when Tabitha answers, he enjoys that, so they put the two together again. They also answer back when Alix makes the noise. Dax and Weaver wonder if they can't communicate with the children because they don't have good singing voices. 0748 weaver #105: decency obsession Alix suggests getting the kids some clothes. Dax is in favor but Weaver objects and bothers Alix about why he wants them to be clothed--does he think it's just basic decency? Weaver says at the very least the winged boy can't be expected to wear clothes and still fly. Alix still demands that they put clothes on the girl. 0749 adele #181: what's next All of a sudden, Adele realizes the flash is over, and the reality sets in that she has no distractions now and has to go back to her life (which has changed in a huge way that she still hasn't processed). Ivy encourages her to claim her right to take a nap instead of worrying about it. 0750 adele #182: as our own After a good, satisfying sleep, Adele feels much more hopeful and clear-headed. She reunites with her found family and explains some revelations she's had about Thursday and Tabitha (who will now be called Tab because she keeps feeling weird about the name). She gives the others perspective on why they must raise these children as their own, and privately, she feels comforted that the guys and Ivy handled so much without her. 0751 dax #97: the wildness Dax doesn't understand why Ivy still wants to play with Tab even when it's not her responsibility to watch her. Ivy expresses that she feels like Tab is hers, her lost girl that needs her, while Dax hasn't really bonded with her and is still not completely convinced she's not an animal. He does some thinking about wildness, passivity, and Ivy's bond with the child. 0752 dax #98: this routine Dax almost gets scratched by Tab and has to stop her. She "retaliates" by scratching herself. Dax has an epiphany and takes her to some firewood so she can scratch the wood as much as she wants. He doesn't know why she needs to do that, but it's clear she needs this release. 0753 ivy #240: when you go Adele observes Ivy giving Tab a bath. Ivy observes that Tab looks different with her wet hair and her horns more visible. Adele doesn't seem to be paying attention, so when Ivy persists, Adele discusses her letters to Webster and her intention to go to the city again soon. Ivy doesn't like when Adele travels and wants to go with her to make it faster, but Adele says she can't until she's older. Ivy's disappointed and feels like Adele is hiding something. 0754 ivy #241: to say no Ivy doesn't want to go to bed when it's time for Dax to stand guard over Tab as she sleeps. Ivy casually defies Dax's instructions and he gets disturbingly serious with her, and she finds herself responding with obedience even though she doesn't want to. She knows he's right but it's really confusing. 0755 meri lin #129: vigilant Meri Lin takes Benjamin to the doctor for his DTaP shot. He doesn't have much of a reaction and Meri Lin finally asks the doctor if there might be something wrong with him because his emotions seem muted. The doctor thinks there's no reason to worry but reassures her that worrying about such things is just about vigilance; she isn't silly to be concerned. It's just that her professional opinion as a doctor is that there's nothing wrong with him. 0756 weaver #106: the wrong sugar Weaver and Alix continue to struggle with keeping Thursday healthy. More and more often he's passing out even though they're working hard to keep him in calories. Finally Weaver grows frustrated and they ask Adele, who seems distracted and quiet lately, but she's willing to help. She investigates and realizes that Thursday isn't digesting sugar fruit very well. They're going to have to find a good way to get simpler sugars into him. 0757 adele #183: five things Ivy doesn't want Adele to go on her errand unless she can come along. Adele still refuses and Ivy begins bargaining, insisting that she be given five of her own demands if she is to allow Adele to leave. Ivy then lists five things she wants, including sparkles. Adele agrees and Ivy grants her permission to go. 0758 ivy #242: not watching Alix helps Ivy come up with an idea to keep Tab happier; she wants some privacy and doesn't want Ivy in her personal space all the time. So he suggests they build a playpen out of big rocks. Tab seems very happy inside the enclosure, but Thursday keeps trying to enter. Alix is nervous but Ivy claims she can keep him safe. Then Alix catches her not watching and thinks she put him in danger, but Ivy knows she was keeping watch even though she wasn't doing it with her eyes. Alix doesn't understand but he's mad anyway. She's sick of it. 0759 dax #99: paying attention Ivy, carrying Tab, comes to Dax and asks him to take a turn watching her. Knowing this is uncharacteristic, Dax knows something's wrong and encourages the answer out of Ivy: Alix yelled at her over something she felt she didn't do wrong. When she explains how she was keeping Tab safe with her energy even though her eyes were not on her, Dax learns something new about her powers, and they decide to go explain it to Alix together. 0760 ivy #243: same as me Dax tries to help Alix understand what Ivy told him about how her powers work, but Alix still blamed Ivy for not making it clear to him when he was worried for Thursday's safety. Ivy begins to feel incredibly alienated hearing them talk about her and goes off to read a book she likes about a girl who feels different because of her red hair. She wonders if she can take any comfort from it since the girl in the book gets bullies off her back by doing a report about all the other redheaded people in the world, while she thinks she might actually be alone. 0761 adele #184: another letter Adele goes shopping for promised and necessary items, and then she spends some time thinking about the letters she wants to send and letters she wants to write. She decides to go pick up Webster's letters that are waiting for her so she can decide whether to reply to those too. One is pretty typical for him, but the second one is short and pleads to see her. 0762 adele #185: soft heart Adele is dismayed at Webster's request to see her, alternately longing and angry. She feels he shouldn't demand such things of her knowing what she's already said on the matter. After arguing with herself, she mails her letters as if she doesn't know he wants to see her, and talks herself out of calling him too. Intending to just go home, she experiences misgivings, and acknowledges to herself that she wants their fantasy to continue. 0763 adele #186: minutes without you Adele searches out the source of Webster's inappropriate request to see her and realizes he was thinking of pursuing another woman but didn't know how to feel about their relationship. She decides to wait for him to get her letters and spends some time reading about jealousy in the library. She realizes her own jealousy evaporates if she believes she can still have a relationship with Webster in spite of any other relationships he might have. She calls him on the phone to discuss their situation and he finds the topic off-putting. She attempts to seek out the source of his objections. 0764 adele #187: hung up Webster and Adele continue their phone conversation and discuss whether a person can love more than one person at a time, in different ways or romantically. Webster really isn't open to the idea and Adele asks him to challenge it for several reasons. He counters: shouldn't she also challenge her assumptions when it comes to how impossible it is for them to be together in a more traditional way. They agree to consider each other's options until they correspond again. 0765 weaver #107: how they play Ivy is wondering about what hand-clapping games are as depicted in a book she likes. Weaver doesn't know the answer and they decide they'll have to ask Alix since he has knowledge of the human world. He says he knows what they are but can't teach Ivy about them because he doesn't know any--even if this wasn't mostly a girl thing, he wouldn't have been involved in anything that had other kids paying attention to his hands. Ivy wonders if she would have had to consider that too. This makes Weaver sad. 0766 dax #100: present day Adele has returned and everyone's excited to receive the presents she brought them from human cities. Thursday gets food that fits his diet, Weaver gets magazines and pineapple drink, Alix gets sweaters and a multitool and lotion, Tab gets a music toy and clothes, and Ivy gets her "five things" (including a sparkly ribbon wand). Dax is hoping for beef jerky, but Adele gives him a book on tape and something he doesn't recognize: a stick of pepperoni. And it turns out it tastes better than jerky, to his utter shock. 0767 ivy #244: big wild girl Ivy watches Tab chasing the birds on the beach and admires/is curious about the way she moves her body and how it's so different from how Ivy herself does. Tab gets scared by a bird when it squawks at her and she runs to Ivy instead of attacking the bird. Ivy feels overwhelmed by how heavy and solid Tab is when she's throwing herself at her for comfort. 0768 weaver #108: not like us guys Weaver and Ivy are about to go for their flight and Weaver feels comfortable these days leaving Thursday in Alix's care. But then Alix suggests they take Thursday along since after all he can fly too. They don't think it's a good idea and try to explain the dangers, but Alix insists that the allowances they'd have to make are no more than what Ivy probably does to allow for Weaver's shortcomings. He's angry that this might be true. 0769 ivy #245: hold back Weaver and Ivy have a chat in the sky about whether Ivy has to hold back while flying with Weaver. She doesn't entirely understand why he thinks anything is wrong because SHE can still do all the things he can't do and him not being able to do them doesn't stop her--and plus he can read better than her and still enjoys doing it with her, right? Weaver still seems unconvinced, but a little reassured. 0770 dax #101: stealth Dax takes Tab on a hunting trip and finds that she makes a lot of noise and can't be stealthy. Instead of restraining her and teaching her to be quiet, though, he recognizes that she spends too much of her life being restricted and she's probably too young to understand stealth, and therefore maybe he should just let her enjoy her freedom. 0771 adele #188: a reason to talk Adele greets Dax when he returns from his hunting trip with Tab, but is a little dismayed that he didn't successfully hunt anything. When Dax explains that Tab was too loud but they had fun bonding over their wild sides anyway, Adele asks Dax if he might consider helping Tab also encourage her verbal skills, and he agrees to initiate speech more often, but Adele worries that she'll end up having to be responsible for the girl's speech development herself. 0772 weaver #109: about houses Tab and Ivy are dirty and Adele says they can just wash off in the coming rain. Alix, dismayed that he wasn't aware rain was coming and angry that it ruined his plans, gets mocked by Weaver. When Alix gets back from fishing and complains some more about the rain, Weaver challenges him and they argue over whether they would be more civilized if they had a house. Thursday distracts everyone by saying the word "wet." 0773 adele #189: pictures of bad things Ivy objects to Tab having her own bed in the cave, wanting her to sleep in HER bed. Adele insists it's still dangerous and they get into an argument about how dangerous it is. Ivy is subdued when Adele makes it clear she's seen bad things happening if Ivy sleeps in the same bed with Tab. She's disturbed by the idea that Adele might have seen actual images of bad things happening to her. They discuss the necessity of it and Adele's future-telling pebbles. Ivy plays with them and Adele comments that she wishes she could move all the pebbles at once like Ivy can for ease of predictions. 0774 ivy #246: do it like you Ivy's playing with Adele's pebbles and fantasizing about learning to be a prophet when she's older. Adele interrupts her and gently reprimands her for taking the pebbles, but as they sit together and discuss what Ivy would have to actually do to see things like Adele (and Adele admires how Ivy can make patterns of pebbles in the air), they connect somehow in an unprecedented way. 0775 adele #190: in three dimensions Adele realizes that she can suddenly control her divination pebbles remotely because Ivy is letting her have access to her power somehow. Adele wants to experiment with her new opportunity to try a divination in three dimensions, but Ivy is uncomfortable and asks to stop, so Adele agrees. They discuss the experience and Ivy says she thinks she was seeing glimmers of images that must have been coming from Adele's powers. Whatever this connection is, they were sharing their powers in a limited way. Ivy agrees that she'll cooperate with experimenting in the future. 0776 ivy #247: looking at us Ivy thinks about her weird experience with Adele. Weaver comes in and tries to put some perspective into the experience for her, and he's really interested in what it means about her future opportunities. Ivy ultimately just needs some time to get used to it, but she wants to be involved in the future. 0777 dax #102: if she's going to bite Dax sees Ivy playing with Tab and watches her playing with seaweed. He's concerned about Tab's tendency to bite the seaweed while she's chasing it, so he tries some seaweed himself to see if it's okay to eat. They decide they should ask Adele about whether it's safe for Tab to bite seaweed, and give her something else to bite in the meantime. 0778 ivy #248: just see you Ivy takes a picture of Adele's newly painted fingernails for Webster. But when Ivy wants to know why Adele can't show her her whole self, Adele reveals that Webster wouldn't think she was pretty, and Ivy is flabbergasted at the idea because Adele is so pretty. She doesn't think Webster deserves Adele's attention. 0779 adele #191: all business Adele braves the danger of taking Ivy to New York so she can use her assistance flying there and back with heavy supplies. Adele takes great care to avoid letting Ivy have any fun while in the city so she won't want to come back on her own; it's still too dangerous for her. Adele mails a letter and picks one up, and they buy some lumber for a project Alix wants to do. 0780 weaver #110: wise guy Alix is trying to build the framework of a small house with the materials Adele brought back. Weaver comments on his work and they bicker about who's smarter. 0781 ivy #249: something nice Ivy is ready to experiment with Adele's pebbles again. Adele takes great care to give Ivy an experience where she's in control and comfortable, and they make an easy prediction about the group's next meal. 0782 weaver #111: changing the future Ivy's recounting to Weaver what it was like to see the future with Adele. The two of them ponder what it means when knowing what's going to happen could change what actually happens. 0783 dax #103: doomed to failure The group gathers for dinner and Weaver politely asks about how Alix's shelter building was going. He reacts bitterly and accuses Weaver of not caring, at which point Adele predicts that Alix's structure will fail and he will blame Weaver even though he shouldn't. Even though Dax asks for justification for Alix's accusations, Alix can only say Weaver is always against him. 0784 ivy #250: what a kid is Ivy sees Neptune coming out of the forest (as predicted!) and she comes over to eat offered seaweed and nuts. Ivy is excited for Neptune to see that they have Tab and Thursday in the group now, but she doesn't really notice and just wants to eat the food. 0785 adele #192: you'll be missed Neptune wanders off eating apple slices and wants to be by herself. Alix causes an argument by exaggeratedly asking whether his desire to cook more fish will upset her because she's a vegetarian and implying the others expect him to have a permit or follow their rules. He gets angry when Weaver calls him out so he storms off to his shelter to work on it. Neptune, weirdly, follows him. A feather falls out of one of her wings and Ivy asks to keep it. 0786 dax #104: an alliance Ivy shows Tab Neptune's feather and "trades" with her for a handful of nuts (aided by Dax). When Ivy is excited that the group is so nice and loves sharing, Weaver makes sour comments about Alix and they discuss who should go get him so they can all be together. Ivy elects herself to go get Alix and Neptune and everyone decides to let her try. Dax is curious how her peacemaking skills might turn out to be. 0787 ivy #251: sad came instead Ivy surprises Alix at his building site and he reprimands her for scaring him. She tries to get him to return with her, and with Neptune (who is now invisible and watching Alix), but Alix just snaps at her to be quiet and leave him alone. Ivy gets upset and Alix makes it clear he doesn't really care. As she leaves, distraught, Neptune follows her back to the home base. 0788 weaver #112: jerk Ivy returns with Neptune (invisibly), and confesses to the others that Alix was mean to her. She wants a word for his attitude toward her and the others teach her to call Alix a jerk. Thursday repeats it and they joke about him agreeing. 0789 dax #105: several unprecedented things Tab gets up and goes up to Neptune, holding her discarded feather. Dax is nervous that Tab won't be gentle enough but Adele doesn't seem worried. Tab surprises everyone by not scaring Neptune away, and she sticks the feather into Neptune's wing. (The feather stays visible, but Neptune is still invisible.) Unfortunately then Ivy's exclamations are too loud and that's what scares Neptune off. The feather gets left behind and given to Tab again. 0790 adele #193: a conversational noise Dax thinks a noise Tab made during the Neptune exchange sounded almost like she was trying to talk, and Adele agrees. Weaver doesn't really see it that way, but Adele thinks if they all continue their efforts to talk to both children, they'll be talking soon. 0791 ivy #252: privacy Ivy goes to check on Alix because he hasn't come back to the cave even though it's bedtime, of her own volition. She finds that he's completed the framework of a roof on his structure, and as she asks questions about it, Alix gets irritated. Ivy thinks it's really strange he wouldn't want her help if he had to build a stepstool to reach the roof and he could have just asked her. But his rationale does make sense to her when he explains: he wants to accomplish things on his own. Then he makes it clear that he wants his sole completion of the structure to entitle him to privacy in it. Ivy feels a little hurt that he plans to not share, but has realized that he will always be mean to her so therefore his attitude isn't her fault. She wants him to know he's still welcome in the cave. 0792 weaver #113: attitude Ivy and Weaver go on an evening flight and discuss Alix's attitude. Weaver helps Ivy decide it's okay to not like Alix and not be friends with him if it's causing her stress, and wants her to understand that it isn't her responsibility to maintain and stabilize her relationship with him if he's not doing his part at all. He worries about her getting taken advantage of by men in the future. 0793 meri lin #130: thank god for the kids Fred's relatives show up at Meri Lin's apartment and baby Benjamin finally gets to meet his cousin Sam. Meri Lin notes that Sam's ears don't look as pointed as they did in his newborn pictures, but they still have a weird shape. She thinks Fred's sister and brother-in-law wouldn't have visited if Sam had any powers. They proceed to observe their children's more typical abilities as the babies meet after a diaper change. 0794 weaver #114: that look Weaver is feeding Thursday when Dax brings Tab to come see them and show off the feather in her hair. She seems to want to play with Thursday and the boy sits on her shoulder. But then he gets his wings caught in her hair, startles her by trying to fly free, and triggers Weaver to hold her wrist back when it looks like she's about to swipe at him. Dax steps in a moment later and Weaver worries that they're not trustworthy to take care of the kids and wonders why he jumped in to stop her when he'd be no match for her claws if she meant business. 0795 ivy #253: tangled up Weaver and Dax bring Tab and Thursday to Ivy so she can extricate the tiny boy from Tab's hair. She does so easily and braids Tab's hair to make it less likely to happen again. Weaver and Dax leave the kids with the gals so they can spend some time together. 0796 dax #106: vigilance Weaver and Dax have a chat about Weaver's fears regarding Tab. Dax tries to calm Weaver's nerves saying in the big picture accidents happen and they can't guard against everything. But Weaver reminds him they still have the responsbility of the children under their care and their world is relatively small. Dax agrees and sees a new perspective. They meditate on the issue. 0797 adele #194: indoors Alix has completed his structure on the beach and invites everyone to a housewarming party, but once they're all inside everyone wants to leave for various reasons--Dax feels cramped, Weaver doesn't like being reminded of his imprisonment, Ivy finds it stuffy and boring and takes Tab with her, leaving Adele with Alix. He suggests she can request invitations at anytime if she wants an indoor place since she's "civilized." She points out that he seems to have built the little house to keep people out and leaves also. 0798 weaver #115: having his say A hyperactive Thursday wings it toward Alix's cabin with Weaver in hot pursuit. When Alix welcomes Thursday in without seeing Weaver and says some annoying stuff about being lonely and wishing he had an attractive companion, Weaver bursts in to razz him, and Alix intensifies his commentary, claiming he's the only one who never gets his say and has no allies. Weaver leaves Alix with cutting responses about how shutting others out will necessarily result in loneliness, and also offers a parting . . . punch on the arm. He thinks Alix is an outsider there because what he chooses to say (while claiming he gets NO say) is already so angry that it reminds them all of what they ran away from. 0799 adele #195: exceptional kindness Ivy and Adele are practicing their pebble technique and Adele uses it to find out what's going to happen to Alix's house. It's a little overwhelming for Ivy so they stop when she asks to stop. She asks about whether they should tell him what they saw and they discuss the ethics of helping people who don't really deserve it. 0800 meri lin #131: do you remember Meri Lin feels judged by Fred's sister Dorothy as she keeps using her own experience and her son's as the standard, questioning Meri Lin's experience and then even suggesting she doesn't understand why she has so many girl toys. Meri Lin asks if Dorothy remembers that she had a girl first, and wonders why this woman who is essentially her family is acting like she has a stranger's knowledge of her life.
