I'm much the same, except I've not the enthusiasm he seems to have for it. And his newfound exuberance is a little out of character, imho. He's always seemed the epitome of chill :)

Nah, it's not out of character--you just don't usually see a bunch of instances of Dax acting like this sandwiched together. He has a history of enthusiastic outbursts over things he finds exciting or inspiring. Check out 210 when he finds out Weaver might teach him to write, or 216 when he's discussing using a calendar to predict moon phases, or 295 when he's trying to get his companions to look on the bright side. He's usually a cool cucumber, sure, but he does display childlike excitement when things strike him a certain way.
