I thought there was going to be body swapping involved, but they physically get their body sent to another world? What's with the memory wipe then? And how is Amanda tied in with this if she's not getting possessed by Adele's soul?
And I thought that flash she just went to was her one chance to go, but apparently that's not it?
I'll keep reading for the answers.

Body swapping was not referred to in this comic anywhere and Amanda isn't related to Adele's reason to travel to our world. The characters have discussed going to other worlds for field trips so no, it's not set up as a rare opportunity.
