Admittin oneself to be wrong is hard for the ego I guess. Person wants to be right and reasonable in all affairs but no one can do that, and brain usually warps the situation as if the person is the correct one all along. It suits the ego well but still thinking about the problem with emphaty might make one realize their wrongs. I somewhat see myself in Alix character.
