Thank you O Goddess of -1 for bringing Ivy back again to the Kind Lady!
I was reading an article about animal intelligence research. Animals can do many surprising things and solve tricky puzzles. However, when the connection between cause and effect is hidden, they don't do so well.
For instance, birds and small mammals quickly learn to drop stones or other objects into a tube to raise the water level and get a treat (shades of Aesop's Fables). So did young children 5 to 8.
However, if there are 3 tubes, with two connected by a hidden channel, the animals are totally stumped. Many of the human children were stumped also, but the ones that succeeded did so through a belief in "magic". There was a magical connection between 2 of the tubes, they explained.

Ah man, that's a relief. After her Ryoga-esque night wanderings, was afraid the last comic with Margaret would be the last one in general Xb Woot for not being lost yet again :)
