Weaver is smart for creating riddles for Ivy to teach her reading. When someone really wants to understand something (in this case answer to Weaver's riddles) and in order to understand it that person has to learn something it might just be the trigger to learn.
(In my experience I use movies I like to learn new languages, by watching them without subtitles and so far it worked for English and now I'm trying to learn French in the same manner)
It works unless the person gives up, like Ivy almost did in this episode.
