Discussion question of the week:
What's Your Getaway?

Most people have their one place, pastime, or hobby they use as an escape. What do you do or where do you go when you want to be alone?

Can you feel extremely ambivalent? I think so. I am extremely ambivalent about that episode. I LOVE that Amanda is not sad very often and is in fact very giddy with happiness a lot. It was sad to see her lose another home, but now that she seems to have found it again she's almost callous about it.

It's an awesome adaptation to find that you don't need people and don't really get lonely when you get to enjoy what you love by yourself (I should know first hand), but to see it in a baby that doesn't even remember her parents feels almost tragic.

I agree with much of Sho's sentiment. I liked the episode a lot for its honesty about how Ivy is feeling. But it's almost chilling, and certainly sad for anyone who wants to think that people -- especially young children! -- benefit from forming strong bonds with others (particularly caregivers). But if you can take care of yourself...! All in all a thought-provoking and emotionally complex episode. Keep 'em coming, Negative One!

I've rarely seen such a raging hatred for people who talk differently than the standard. You haven't been unclear about how you feel about this so I heard you and now I really wish you'd stop. If it infuriates you so much, it makes me wonder if you say things like this about people in real life who don't talk like you.
