Poor Dax . . . seems he'd ended up getting accepted by a band of thieves. Hope the meeting in a month doesn't end up bein' some kind of scam>_<

I think I've said this before, but I like Dax a lot. He just never gets angry about anything, as far as I can tell. I assume the hippies aren't going to be in the comic so much any more. I rather like them.

Being that he is alien, how does Dax know that the hippy he liked stole something? As far as I can tell, he hasn't been in many stores to know the practices. How does he know that you don't pay at the entrance before or after you have selected your wares? I know he sees her looking guilty and as though she doesn't want to be seen, but by his own admission "decent" behavior differs between his people and humans (i.e., nudity at the lake and prayer for the food). Her guilty actions could've been over the content of the particular purchase, embarassment to be seen with that particular book. Now that I think about it, even the CDs-on-the-street could've been a form of tribute for the music. It's not unheard of for cultures to put tributes in vessels and lay them before their "hosts" to take payment as they will. It could be a form of respect for the music to not look as they decided what was good payment. Those accustomed did it that way and the others rudely threw money down in plain sight. Heh. Could be. I guess it just seems weird to me for an Alien in an Alien world, admittedly confused by the practices around himself, would be so quick to think something is wrong. Of course, I could just be over analyzing it because the "stranger in a strange land" scenario is so appealing to me. I love the story, keep up the good work. Oh, and you're like a goddess and some such stuff. (err.. is that how you wanted me to end it?) P.S. More Dax. Dax for President.

Dax have been around these people enough to recognize their emotions by now. He knows the "I should not be doing this" and "Is anybody seeing this?" body language when he sees it.
Dax' people isn't _that_ different from us. I hope for all the best for Dax, he deserves the best.

I'm glad he finally got sick of the hippies. I liked some of the hippies, but they were bad news for him. Living with those you know to be thieves is very hard. Standing up to do the right thing and walk away, that's harder. Bravo Dax! |
