Negative One Best-Of Gallery: DAX!

If you don't read Negative One, you should know that Dax is a nonhuman who ended up in the human world by coming through a portal. He is introduced to the world by traveling around with some hippies for a while before settling down with the main group of the series, with Weaver as his best friend. They share a spiritual belief system. Dax is very large, peaceful, and principled.
