Not really related to this specific episode: Why does Adele never try to find Ivy's parents and return her to them? Isn't this selfish, too?
swankivy
One of the things Adele felt most strongly about Ivy when she met her was that she needed to get her out of the city and raise her outside of human influence. And until shortly before the missions started, she guarded against Ivy finding anything attractive about going to the city and didn't want others taking her there. Adele doesn't specifically know anything about how Ivy's parents treated her (and prefers prioritizing what she thinks of as Ivy's well being over the sadness of Ivy's parents whom she doesn't know), but we know the main focus Meri Lin and Fred had with regard to their daughter's powers was teaching her how to hide it. There was a big chunk of Ivy's childhood during which exposure to that attitude, the need to keep herself a secret, would have damaged her personality and made her more susceptible to backlash and violence. In the present, Ivy hasn't expressed the desire to find her parents--she fears something bad must've happened between them if she isn't with them--but when circumstances change in the future and Ivy does want to know more about her origin, Adele will not be opposed to helping her with whatever guidance she needs.
