I don't have a middle name. That has caused some confusion in the US.

Lots of people don't and then other people think it's weird! My brother-in-law doesn't have one and put "nomiddlename" in his online handle once. And in the story itself, Meri Lin actually doesn't give either of her kids middle names, so if Ivy had contact with her family, she wouldn't have a middle name either!
