CHINESE CUSTOMERS

In Issue #0678, Meri Lin hears two women speaking Mandarin in a counter-service restaurant and one of them is struggling with an allergy question because she can't speak English very well to the restaurant worker. Meri Lin intervenes and helps translate their question, and they want to buy her food as a thank-you. While they wait for the food to be made, Meri Lin chats with the Chinese customers and at first is enjoying having someone to speak her mother tongue with, but when they make comments about Benjamin's looks and make assumptions about his white father not caring about learning the language, Meri Lin decides to not accept their favor and leaves.

One of the Chinese women is allergic to eggs and was unable to safely order her lunch without Meri Lin's help. They are both older women and seem a bit traditional.
